Job Summary
The SAP Technical Architect will report to the Director of Enterprise Architecture & Application Development and serves as the primary hands-on technical authority for all SAP solutions across the enterprise. This role is responsible for architecting, designing, building, implementing, and delivering end-to-end SAP solutions across core ERP modules and SAP add-on platforms - spanning projects, enhancements, and strategic initiatives. The SAP Technical Architect plays a critical role in ERP consolidation efforts, ensuring technical integrity and consistency across a complex, multi-entity SAP landscape.
This role works in close collaboration with SAP functional teams, CG business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Automation, and Integration teams to translate business requirements into scalable, well-integrated SAP solutions. The SAP Technical Architect is the key technical bridge between SAP and the broader enterprise ecosystem - owning the SAP technical foundation that enables automations, integrations, and future ERP evolution. Deep hands-on ABAP expertise and broad SAP integration knowledge are essential to success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Architect and deliver end-to-end SAP technical solutions across all phases - design, build, implementation, and delivery - for projects and enhancements spanning FI, MM, PP, SD, WM, QM, and BW.
  • Provide technical architecture guidance for SAP add-on platforms including SAP TM (Transportation Management), SAP EM (Event Management), SAP IBP (Integrated Business Planning), and SAP Hybris / Commerce Cloud (e-Commerce).
  • Develop and maintain Solution Design Documents (SDDs), technical blueprints, and architecture decision records for all SAP initiatives.
  • Ensure technical integrity and consistency across the SAP landscape, enforcing architectural standards and SAP best practices across all delivered solutions.
  • Play a key technical role in ERP consolidation initiatives, supporting multi-entity landscape harmonization, system rationalization, and phased migration efforts.
  • Serve as the hands-on ABAP technical lead for priority initiatives - designing and developing custom SAP objects including OO ABAP, BADIs, Enhancement Spots, User Exits, RFCs, BAPIs, Z-function modules, IDocs, SmartForms, and Adobe Forms.
  • Conduct performance tuning and code optimization of complex ABAP programs to meet enterprise reliability and throughput standards.
  • Lead and conduct technical design reviews and code reviews across internal teams and external delivery partners, ensuring adherence to development standards and clean core principles.
  • Guide and mentor SAP functional teams and external partner developers on correct technical approaches, ABAP best practices, and SAP architectural patterns.
  • Own the SAP integration architecture - designing and delivering integration solutions using SAP BTP Integration Suite (iPaaS), iFlows, RFC/BAPI-based interfaces, IDoc processing, REST/SOAP APIs, and API Management.
  • Collaborate with the Integration team to architect end-to-end integration patterns between SAP and non-SAP enterprise systems (CRM, WMS, third-party platforms, B2B/EDI).
  • Ensure data consistency, process harmonization, and reliable message flow across all SAP integration touchpoints.
  • Serve as the SAP technical owner for all automation initiatives - architecting and building the SAP-side technical layer required for seamless UiPath RPA bot execution.
  • Design and develop custom RFCs, BAPI wrappers, Z-function modules, and API interfaces that expose SAP functionality reliably to automation and AI/ML platforms.
  • Partner closely with the Automation team to ensure all SAP technical requirements for RPA, intelligent automation, and agentic use cases are delivered with the right architecture, security, and performance standards.
  • Work extensively with SAP functional teams (FI, MM, PP, SD, WM, QM), CG business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, and Integration teams to gather requirements and translate them into technically sound SAP solutions.
  • Serve as the primary SAP technical point of contact across project teams, business workstreams, and IT delivery partners - facilitating clear communication between business needs and technical execution.
  • Engage with external delivery partners to govern technical quality, review solution designs, and ensure alignment with CG architectural standards.
  • Contribute to SAP platform roadmap planning and continuous improvement of the SAP technical estate in preparation for future ERP evolution.
  • Define and enforce SAP technical development standards, coding guidelines, and architecture governance practices across the SAP landscape.
  • Conduct regular architecture and code reviews to ensure compliance with SAP best practices, security policies, and CG technology standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional networks.
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
  • Protect Chamberlain Group's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.
