As of Jun 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for rv hauling in the United States is $26.76, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.83 and $32.45 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by RV Hauling professionals, and how can they prepare for them?

RV Hauling professionals often encounter challenges such as navigating oversized loads, adhering to strict delivery schedules, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. Weather conditions and varying road types can also impact delivery timelines and safety. To prepare, it's important to stay updated on legal requirements, maintain your vehicle in top condition, and develop strong route-planning skills. Building good communication with dispatchers and clients also helps in managing expectations and overcoming unforeseen obstacles.

How to become an RV delivery driver?

To become an RV delivery driver, you typically need a valid driver's license, often a commercial license depending on the vehicle size, and a clean driving record. Experience with large vehicles or towing may be required, and some employers prefer candidates with good customer service skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Completing safety training and understanding routes and schedules are also important for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an RV Hauling Driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as an RV Hauling Driver, you need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), a clean driving record, and knowledge of vehicle safety regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic vehicle maintenance tools is typically required. Strong time management, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you manage schedules and interact with clients. These skills and qualifications are crucial to ensure safe, timely, and professional delivery of RVs across long distances.

Is hauling RVs profitable?

RV hauling can be profitable for drivers and companies, especially with consistent contracts and efficient routes. Earnings depend on factors such as distance, load size, and operational costs like fuel and insurance, making profitability variable across different jobs and regions.

What is the difference between Rv Hauling vs RV Service Technician?

AspectRv HaulingRV Service Technician
CredentialsDriver's license, CDL often requiredMechanic certifications, technical training
Work EnvironmentOn the road, hauling RVs between locationsRepair shops, service centers, on-site repairs
Industry UsageTransporting RVs for dealerships, owners, rentalsMaintaining, repairing, troubleshooting RV systems

While Rv Hauling involves transporting RVs from one location to another, RV Service Technicians focus on repairing and maintaining RVs. Both roles require knowledge of RVs, but Rv Haulers primarily operate vehicles with commercial licenses, whereas RV Service Technicians need technical skills and certifications. They serve different needs within the RV industry but are both essential for RV owners and dealerships.

How much do you make hauling RVs?

RV hauling drivers typically earn between $40,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience, the distance traveled, and the company. Pay may include per-mile rates, flat fees, or hourly wages, and drivers often need a commercial driver's license (CDL) to operate large vehicles safely.

Is RV transport a good career?

RV hauling is a specialized transportation job that involves moving recreational vehicles over long distances, often requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL) and knowledge of vehicle handling. It can offer steady income and flexible schedules but also involves long hours and time away from home. The job's suitability depends on individual preferences for travel and physical work.

What is RV hauling?

RV hauling is the job of transporting recreational vehicles (RVs) from one location to another, often from manufacturers to dealerships or customers. This role typically involves driving a heavy-duty pickup truck with a trailer or a specialized hauler to tow travel trailers, fifth wheels, or motorhomes. RV haulers are responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of RVs, performing pre-trip inspections, and sometimes handling minor maintenance on the road. Many RV haulers work independently as contractors, setting their schedules and choosing their routes. Experience with towing large trailers and knowledge of transportation regulations are crucial for this job.
