Quality Control / Safety Director – Lead Excellence in Steel Fabrication and Coating ComplianceJob Overview
  • Company: Moon Fabricating Corp.

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $70,000 - $75,000 per year (based on experience)

  • Location: Kokomo, IN 46901.

  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and OSHA 10-hour certification.

The Opportunity

You will serve as the primary guardian of quality and safety, ensuring every fabricated member meets elite industry standards and rigorous contract specifications. This role empowers you to shape a culture of excellence by mentoring team members in specialized lining and coating techniques.

How You Will Make an Impact
  • Validate that all incoming materials, parts, and consumables strictly adhere to project quality requirements.

  • Inspect complex fabricated members to ensure total compliance with AWS and ASME codes and technical drawings.

  • Administer specialized training programs for welding, fitting, rubber lining, and painting to elevate team performance.

  • Coordinate the calibration of welding machinery and precision QC tools to maintain operational accuracy.

  • Execute comprehensive safety training sessions with third-party providers to minimize facility risk.

  • Document all welder certification testing and quality control inspections to maintain project transparency.

  • Promote a high-accountability culture where safety and quality are integrated into every daily production task.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Active Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in steel fabrication.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience specifically with coatings and the application of linings.

  • Expert knowledge of AWS D1.1, AWS D1.6, and ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 standards.

  • Current OSHA 10-hour certification.

  • Proficiency in enforcing safe work practices within a heavy shop environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Working knowledge of NACE surface preparation standards.

  • Advanced safety certifications beyond the OSHA 10-hour minimum.

  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or training capacity within a fabrication setting.
