Job description

The Rubber Liner is a technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing rubber linings in industrial equipment, machinery, and structures. This position requires the ability to work independently and perform tasks to ensure high-quality and safe installations
Role and Responsibilities
  • Installation and Application: Independently install and apply rubber linings in various industrial equipment, including tanks, pipes, chutes, and reactors. Ensure proper application to prevent wear and corrosion.
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare and clean surfaces to be lined, including grinding, sandblasting, or other methods to ensure optimal adhesion.
  • Material Mixing: Accurately mix rubber compounds and adhesives according to specifications to create custom solutions for different applications.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of rubber linings to ensure correct installation, adhesion, and coverage. Address any imperfections or defects.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and repairs on rubber-lined equipment. Replace or repair damaged linings in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to rubber linings, including wear, bonding issues, and environmental damage, and take corrective actions.
  • Training and Supervision: Mentor and train less experienced Rubber Liner I staff in proper techniques and safety practices.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. Provide guidance on the safe handling of materials and equipment.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and inspections, and report on progress to supervisors or project managers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, production staff, and other maintenance personnel to determine the best rubber lining solutions for specific applications.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED. Additional certification in rubber lining or a related field is a plus.
  • No prior experience required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Basic mechanical skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and advance in the coatings and linings field.
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials and perform manual labor.

Preferred Skills
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Experience working in an industrial or construction setting.

Physical Requirements
  • Works in an industrial setting, including factories, plants, or construction sites.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and sometimes extreme temperatures.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times for safety.
  • Shift work or overtime may be required based on project deadlines.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
