Job Description

Construct, repair and maintenance of:
All kinds of wooden & timber work in the hotel including public area, guestrooms and back of the house area.
Table, chairs, bed, doors, bed castors, locks & keys, window rubber lining, curtain rods, curtain pellet,
door stoppers, frames, hinges and closets, glass top and window frames.
Ceiling boards such as gypsum and plaster ceiling. Partitions notice boards, pigeonholes, racks,
cupboards, stools, trolleys & wheels.
Platforms, wooden ramps, nailing and hanging picture-decorating items during festival seasons.
Carpet and wallpaper repairs, minor masonry work such as tiling of walls and floors, varnishing furniture.
Control of carpentry material ensuring that no wastage.
Maintenance of painting and varnishing work including: Walls, ceiling, doors, doorframes, wooden and
steel panels, spray paintings.
Wooden work such as cabinets, tables, chairs, cupboards, dressing tables, trolleys, notice boards,
partitioning, skirting and rails, luggage racks.
Piping and ducts, fixture and equipment.
General odd jobs such as carpeting wall papering tiling etc.
Respond & attend to fire alarm or emergencies as the occasion arises.
Maintain the area and equipment under his charge in tip-top condition in terms of performance and cleanliness.
Co-operate and lilies with his superior & other various tradesmen
To work closely with all levels of staff. To attend all training per hotel
Accountable for inventory of all carpentry supplies. Record the daily job done.
To carry out repairs to existing furniture, door and windows.
To fabricate new furniture.
To repair door locks.
To perform furniture polishing work.
To assist in decoration work for functions.
To ensure the work as described on the work order form is carried out as quickly as possible,
accurately, skillfully and economically, and completed in full.
To carry out all painting works within the area of the hotel on furniture, equipment, and walls floors as follows
All painted surfaces.
All polished surfaces & furniture.
All wooden surface
Assists as directed in respect of minor projects, i.e. varnishing guest room service etc.
Sign Painting.
Engineering plant room including piping network, air distribution system etc.
All other items as directed by his superior.
To blend paint for various type of work.
To perform minor repairs to wall plaster and renderings, cracks etc required as preparation for the
paint job.
To perform paintwork on interior and exterior building wall.
To assist the carpenter in the preparation of furniture for polishing work and execution of such work.
To assist in the preparation of decoration for functions.
To ensure the work as described on the work request form is carried out as quickly as possible,
accurately, skillfully, economically and is completed in full
To ensure all paints are applied in accordance with the manufacturer specification in order to achieve
the maximum coverage and economy.
To advise his supervisor in the event of low stock levels in respect of painting materials.
To notify his supervisor in the event of anything-unusual taking place either materials or personnel.
To strictly follow company rules & regulations especially safety at work.
To observe cleanliness at the place if work and on the job after completion of work.
To ensure cleanliness of the appearance and uniform, particularly when working in guest area.
To work ensure the return of all borrowed tools from the store.
To keep his section of the workshop cleans & tidy at all times.
To install and repair wallpaper.
To assist his fellow workers when necessary.
To endeavor to promote goodwill and create a pleasant atmosphere amongst his fellow workers.
To work on shift as requested.
To be cost conscious about energy & material
Accept additional or temporary assignment as instructed by his superior from time to time.
 

Qualifications

Qualification:
Middle or Secondary Education + Additional training or certificates in the relevant field is a plus.


Experience:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel industry.
Proven experience working in a top luxury resorts is a plus.


Technical skills:
Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination.
Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.
Fluency in English or another language, written and verbal communication.
Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials.
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
Good understanding of basic math.
