Job description

We are currently looking for an AS400 RPG Programmer/Support Engineer for an Indefinite consulting opportunity. This is primarily a production support position where tickets could come from any functional area within the company.  The ideal candidate would quickly learn enough about their applications and processes to be able to start working those tickets.  Client does a small number of enhancements on their AS400, but they are primarily in maintenance mode as they are slowly transitioning to a new policy admin system.  This would be a long-term consulting role and can be done 100% remote.  
Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years AS400 programming/support experience on enterprise level applications
  • Expertise with RPG/ILE, service programs, commitment control, journaling, interactive & batch debugging
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills
  • Self-starter that will take ownership of assignments and drive to completion with minimal supervision
  • Prior experience leading development teams is a plus
  • Experience using change management software 
  • Ability to develop functional requirements and technical design documents
  • Ability to relate well with business users
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as JIRA
  • Experience with OS400 upgrades
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Java experience would be a plus
  • Experience working for the Insurance Industry would be a strong plus
