Job Summary

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for an IBM i / RPG Lead Developer. In this role you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our current IBM database.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform 
  • Serve as the technical lead for RPG development efforts 
  • Work independently on complex enhancements and production support 
  • Mentor junior developers 
  • Participate in application architecture, modernization efforts, and technical planning 
  • Support and improve longrunning, back office systems 
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Extensive handson IBM i experience (AS/400) 
  • Strong background in RPG / RPGLE (freeform preferred) 
  • Strong CL/CLLE skills 
  • Solid knowledge of IBM i (AS/400) DB2 and SQL 
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing accounting/costing systems 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight 
  • Longterm ownership mindset for legacy systems 
  • Experience integrating IBM i applications with other systems 
  • Familiarity with modern development practices (source control, documentation, coding standards) 
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
