Position Title: IBM Systems Analyst
Reporting to: IBM Systems amp; Development Manager
Location: Evansville, IN
Status: Exempt
Job Purpose:
This position is for an Information Technology professional that has a desire to learn and develop in a growing organization. An understanding of the organization’s business goals is essential as well as the ability to adapt and contribute to these goals. Experience with logistics and distribution systems would be beneficial as well as practical exposure to manufacturing processes and challenges. The ability to analyze business processes, make improvements to the supporting systems, and be able to communicate this to both technical and non-technical audiences are key skills for a successful candidate. In addition to technical savvy this person must be a goal-oriented self-starter. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong interest in understanding how various functional areas interact from a systemic perspective and possesses a proactive approach to exploring the complexities of interconnected systems and data.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Focus on continuing to expand, enhance, and elevate the functionality and value of our IBM i power system platform (formerly known as AS400 and iSeries) to the business community.
  • Creating and updating RPG programs, modifications to the database and associated queries, creation and updates of reports for the business, development of custom labeling to meet customer and shipping requirements, modifications of existing terminal screens presented to the business community, and more.
Qualifications amp; Requirements
  • Both experience with and a working familiarity with the IBM i platform.
  • Must be able to gather and document requirements and make proposals for enhancements.
  • Must be able to work with subject matter experts to acquire knowledge and understanding of existing systems and processes and be able to utilize newfound knowledge to provide technical solutions to business needs.
  • Must be able to design programming modifications to include considerations for database, screens, and reports.
  • Proficiency is required for all general business tools like Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to acquire new programming skills when needed without impacting project deadlines.
  • Possessing an understanding of quality assurance and the ability to create and execute formal test plans is required.
  • Possess the ability to work with other departments, remote users, and vendors to execute a planned implementation.
  • Must be able to succinctly list alternatives when technical roadblocks are encountered.
  • Possess the ability to utilize existing tools and resources to accomplish objectives and know when to propose a solution outside of the box.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
