Job Title: Senior IBM i / AS400 RPG DeveloperEmployment Type: ContractJob Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior IBM i / AS400 RPG Developer to provide application development, systems analysis, maintenance, enhancement, integration, and production support for enterprise applications running on the IBM i / iSeries / AS400 platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience with RPG IV / RPGLE and CL, along with experience working directly with business users to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

Experience supporting IBM i applications within a Higher Education or University environment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform business and systems analysis for applications running on IBM i / iSeries / AS400.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using:
    • RPG IV / RPGLE
    • CL / CLLE
    • RPG III, as needed
  • Support both existing legacy applications and new development initiatives.
  • Work directly with business users to gather, analyze, and clarify requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions, including situations where detailed programming specifications are not available.
  • Support applications related to:
    • Billing
    • Payments
    • Inventory
    • Order processing
    • Labor
    • Financial reconciliation
  • Develop and maintain integrations between IBM i applications and enterprise systems.
  • Support integrations with PeopleSoft and Identity Management systems.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform application fixes and enhancements.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and application validation.
  • Assist with reviewing and testing development work performed by other programmers.
  • Support reconciliation of interfaced data between IBM i applications and enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate closely with business users, developers, analysts, and other technology teams.
  • Quickly learn existing applications, business processes, and system dependencies.
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM i / iSeries / AS400 application development.
  • Strong programming experience with RPG IV / RPGLE.
  • Strong experience with CL / CLLE.
  • Experience with IBM i application maintenance, enhancement, and production support.
  • Experience performing both systems analysis and application development.
  • Experience gathering requirements directly from business users.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience testing and validating application changes.
  • Ability to work effectively in environments where detailed technical specifications may not always be available.
