Job description

Summary


Position responsible for assisting in the installation or repair of roofs on commercial structures. You will also be responsible for assisting in the equipment unload process and carrying tools or roofing materials up a ladder to the work site on the roof and well as ensuring the worksite is clean from debris. You will work as part of a team under the direction of a supervisor or foreman. Critical job duties include ensuring you are working safely and according to the company's safety procedures.


This position reports directly to a Superintendent, with a dotted line to a Journeyman or Foreman per each job.


This position is an hourly, non-exempt position.


Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the installation and repair of different roof types
Align roof material and apply alternate layers of hot asphalt or tar
Remove roofing shingles with tools and equipment
Prep work for the new roof to be installed
Carry bundles of shingles and other roofing materials up ladders
Additional duties as required by your supervisor, Foreman or Journeyman
Clean job area of trash and used shingles
Ability to work on uneven surfaces
Provide assistance with metal fabrication for metal roofing
Help install residential gutters and down spouts
Worked on over 30 roofs of all different kinds of pitch and materials used while roofing.
Loaded shingles on roof by either using a truck or manually packing them up a ladder.
Maintained perfect safety record during employment duration
Clean roof surface before applying roofing materials
Repair broken shingles and apply sealing compounds to affected areas
Inspect roofing tiles, composition, and slate shingles
Replace down spouts, outlet boxes, and gutters
Locate leaks and apply patches for repair
Drivers - Operated company truck to and from job site

Experience/Qualifications/Education Preferences
High school diploma/GED
1+ year of commercial high and low slope roofing experience or interest in high and low slope roofing
Experience with SP (EPDM, TPO, PVC), BUR, foam, shingle, tile and metal roofing systems preferred
Completion of an apprenticeship program preferred
Valid driver's license and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in an environment where there may be regular exposure to noise, odors, fumes, temperature fluctuations and other conditions associated with the roofing industries. Lift minimum of 50 lbs, standing for long periods of time. Vision abilities to include: distance, close, color, depth, and peripheral. Also the ability to adjust focus. Regular use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
