Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform manual tie rebar at the project site assisting in accomplishing many other tasks for other craft. Work is usually performed with other workers.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

A rod buster is a construction professional who specializes in installing and securing rebar (reinforcing steel bars) in concrete forms to provide structural integrity for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure. Duties include reading blueprints, cutting, bending, and positioning rebar, and tying it in place using specialized tools. This physically demanding role requires strong stamina, dexterity, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a team environment.

· Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating material.

· Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

· Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to pass Labor proficiency testing at or above 70%. Have up to four years of experience in construction/maintenance experience. Completed the Matrix Service Stop Plus Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training. To obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
  • Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
  • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day
  • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
