Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
  • Keep people safe.
  • Provide courteous, prompt and sincere attention to members, guests, participants and staff.
  • Keep people safe.
  • Guide, supervise and belay members/guest on the wall
  • Keep people safe.
  • Practice appropriate knot tying and harness fitting
  • Keep people safe.
  • Enforce all rock wall rules and completion of liability waiver
  • Keep area safe and clean
  • Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements to authorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Noise level- High
  • Exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent customer service and verbal skills
  • Consistent positive attitude
  • Experience or familiarity with rock climbing and belaying and it's procedures
  • Experience working with children and adults
  • Model the YMCA Core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
  • Core curriculum training
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (will train)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
