What are robotics companies?

Robotics companies are organizations that design, develop, manufacture, and sell robots or robotic systems for various applications. These companies may focus on industrial automation, healthcare, consumer products, research, or specialized fields like agriculture and logistics. By leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced sensors, robotics companies aim to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity across different industries. Well-known robotics companies include Boston Dynamics, iRobot, and ABB Robotics.

What are some common challenges faced by engineers working at robotics companies?

Engineers at robotics companies often encounter challenges such as integrating hardware and software systems, troubleshooting unexpected technical issues, and keeping up with rapid advancements in robotics technology. Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams—mechanical, electrical, and software engineering—is essential to solve complex problems and ensure the final product functions seamlessly. Additionally, balancing innovation with safety and compliance standards is a key part of the role, making adaptability and strong communication skills highly valuable.

Which 3 jobs will survive AI?

Robotics engineers, maintenance technicians, and software developers are likely to continue thriving as AI advances. These roles require specialized technical skills, problem-solving, and hands-on work that are less easily automated. Continuous learning and familiarity with robotics tools and programming languages are essential for job security in this field.

What is the difference between Robotics Companies vs Robotics Engineers?

AspectRobotics CompaniesRobotics Engineers
CredentialsCompany-wide expertise, industry certificationsDegree in robotics, engineering, or related field; certifications
Work EnvironmentCorporate offices, R&D labs, manufacturing facilitiesDesign, develop, test robotic systems; often in labs or on-site
Employer & Industry UsageEmploys robotics engineers; operates in manufacturing, tech, healthcareDesigns and develops robotic solutions for various industries

Robotics companies are organizations that develop, manufacture, and deploy robotic systems, often employing robotics engineers to design and build these systems. Robotics engineers are professionals who work within these companies to create robotic solutions, focusing on engineering design, programming, and testing. While robotics companies encompass the entire organization, robotics engineers are specific roles within these companies dedicated to technical development.

What is the best robotic company to work for?

The best robotic companies to work for include industry leaders like Boston Dynamics, ABB, and FANUC, which are known for innovation, competitive salaries, and employee development programs. These companies often require skills in robotics engineering, programming, and automation, and may offer opportunities in research, manufacturing, and software development.

How to get a job at a robotics company?

To get a job at a robotics company, candidates should develop skills in robotics, programming, and engineering, often through relevant degrees or certifications. Gaining experience with robotics tools, such as CAD software or robot operating systems, and building a portfolio of projects can improve chances. Networking within the industry and applying through company websites or job boards are common steps in the process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive at a robotics company, and why are they important?

To succeed at a robotics company, you typically need a solid background in engineering, computer science, or robotics, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with programming languages (such as Python, C++, or ROS), CAD software, and hardware prototyping tools is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and collaboration help individuals excel when tackling complex robotics challenges. These competencies are essential for driving innovation, ensuring product reliability, and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams in a fast-evolving industry.

What careers are in robotics?

Careers in robotics include roles such as robotics engineer, automation technician, control systems engineer, and research scientist. These positions typically require knowledge of programming, mechanical design, and electronics, with skills in tools like CAD software and programming languages such as Python or C++. Many roles also require a background in engineering, computer science, or related fields, and may involve working in research labs, manufacturing, or technology development environments.

Job description

We are seeking an exceptional and technically skilled Director to manage NVIDIA's Isaac for Healthcare Engineering initiative. This position entails constructing the platform that will influence how top healthcare robotics companies develop, simulate, train, and deploy next-generation physical AI systems. This is a rare opportunity to create foundational technology at the nexus of physical AI, robotics, and healthcare.

This position entails directing the technical approach, planning, and engineering activities for the Isaac for Healthcare platform. It includes NVIDIA technologies such as Isaac Sim/Lab for simulation and training, Holoscan for on-robot deployment, NVIDIA MedTech Open Models for pretrained medical AI, and synthetic data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with NVIDIA's principal healthcare collaborators, including healthcare robotics companies and MedTech pioneers. You will recognize their primary challenges and design platform features that enable their forthcoming product innovations.

What you'll be doing:

  • Platform Leadership: Assume full accountability for the entire engineering strategy and roadmap for Isaac for Healthcare, encompassing simulation environments, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, synthetic data generation, AI policy training, and real-time edge deployment on NVIDIA Jetson/IGX embedded platforms.

  • Team Building & Development: Recruit, mentor, and grow an extraordinary team of engineers spanning robotics software, simulation, applied AI/ML, systems software, and clinical domain expertise. Build a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and ownership.

  • Partner & Ecosystem Enablement: Function as the lead engineering interface for NVIDIA's core healthcare collaborators (healthcare robotics OEMs and MedTech companies). Transform partner demands into platform features and work together to develop engineering solutions.

  • Technical Strategy & Architecture: Define the long-term technical vision for healthcare physical AI development toolchains. Make critical architectural decisions about simulation fidelity, AI model integration, data pipelines, safety validation frameworks, and on-device inference.

  • Multi-Functional Collaboration: Interact directly with NVIDIA's Isaac Robotics Engineering and Research teams, Holoscan, MONAI, Omniverse, and Embedded teams to coordinate platform strategy, exchange technological insights, and maintain consistent development of Isaac for Healthcare on NVIDIA's remarkable infrastructure.

  • Product Roadmap Influence: Work with product management and business development to build Isaac for Healthcare's go-to-market strategy, developer experience, documentation, and release cadence.

  • Represent NVIDIA at healthcare robotics and MedTech conferences, engage with standards organizations, publish technical articles, and uphold NVIDIA's position as the leading platform for healthcare physical AI.

What we need to see:

  • 15+ overall years of engineering experience, including 5+ years leading engineering teams in robotics, medical devices, autonomous systems, or AI platform development.

  • Consistent track record building and shipping sophisticated software platforms or developer frameworks at scale, ideally spanning simulation, AI/ML, and embedded or real-time systems.
