Job description


If you have an analytical aptitude and are passionate about investing and risk management, you should consider being an intern within the Asset Management Independent Investment Risk team, with a focus to learn about and contribute to risk measurement and reporting.
In the role of Investment Risk Intern, you will work closely with other members of a small team to define relevant risk metrics and produce reporting that would provide assurance that investment managers are taking appropriate types and levels of risk for each client mandate and that those risks are measured accurately, monitored continuously, and taken purposefully.
The Team
The Asset Management Independent Investment Risk team is small, focused, and conducts objective investment risk assessment, measurement, and management of funds. The team issues risk reports, conducts risk research and educates the investment platform on risk matters.
The team engages internally with Chief Investment officers, Heads of Businesses, Portfolio Managers, Boards of Directors, and other control functions. External interactions are with third party risk service providers, clients, and consultants.
The Expertise You Have
  • A rising senior with familiarity with analytical subjects such as economics, finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or equivalent, and a desire to apply such knowledge within the investment industry
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R, and with Tableau, a plus
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player with the ability to thrive in a small-team environment.

The Value You Deliver
  • Learning about, and assisting with risk measurement for strategies that utilize financial derivative instruments as well as Alternative products.
  • Assuring detailed risk reports are accurately produced and reviewed by relevant individuals on appropriate cycles (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.). Enhance Tableau dashboards.
  • Engaging with key internal business partners and third-party vendors to ensure that data elements and processes critical for the efficient functioning of the Investment Risk team are maintained.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. The base salary range for this position is $67,000-$127,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
