Job description

Technical Talent Sourcing Strategist (Aerospace & Defense)

Contract via Chipton-Ross | Chantilly, VA | Pay: $33.94–$41.48/hour | Duration: 5 months | Schedule: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, 5/40

A day in this role

At 7:00 AM, you open the ATS to review overnight activity, update pipelines, and line up outreach for your highest-priority requisitions. By mid-morning, you’re refining Boolean strings, mapping target companies, and starting conversations with passive engineers. After partnering with hiring managers to recalibrate profiles, you log every touchpoint with precision, reshuffle priorities across multiple business units, and keep requisition status fully current. Your afternoon is a blend of market research, relationship-building, and creative channel exploration—from social platforms to niche communities—followed by prepping for an upcoming recruiting event. You finish the day with a crisp desk plan for tomorrow: pipelines updated, candidates engaged, and timelines intact.

What you’ll do
  • Own a high-velocity sourcing desk: track pipelines, requisition health, and workload with discipline and accuracy.
  • Build and execute sourcing strategies that produce robust technical pipelines for hard-to-fill roles.
  • Engage passive talent, assess motivation and fit, and move the right prospects forward—not just sell the job.
  • Leverage social networks, professional platforms, and emerging channels to uncover new candidate sources.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to align on profiles and the right sourcing mix per role.
  • Maintain meticulous ATS records of candidate data, interactions, and status.
  • Balance competing priorities across multiple business units while meeting timelines.
  • Support recruiting events and talent initiatives as part of a collaborative, results-driven team culture.
Required background
  • High school diploma/GED from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of progressive recruiting/sourcing experience with proven success engaging and closing candidates.
  • Exceptional organization and desk management: pipeline tracking, requisition prioritization, proactive planning.
  • Ability to respond with urgency while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong command of sourcing methodologies, tools, and Boolean search techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to build pipelines and develop new channels for a variety of roles and audiences.
Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Agency recruiting experience.
  • Recruiting experience within aerospace, defense, or highly technical domains.
  • Familiarity sourcing candidates who require security clearances.
  • History of managing 10+ concurrent requisitions with strong organizational systems.
  • Workday ATS experience.
  • Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter and advanced search tactics.
Tools and domains
  • Core domain: Human Resources (talent acquisition)
  • Technologies: sourcing platforms, recruiting tools, LinkedIn Recruiter, Workday ATS
Additional details
  • Location: Chantilly, VA
  • Engagement: Contract via Chipton-Ross (5 months)
  • Compensation: $33.94–$41.48 per hour
  • Hours: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, 5/40 work week
  • Work authorization: US citizenship required
