Job description

The Proposal Support Advisor is responsible for managing RFP and proposal development strategy and process for higher-complexity, strategic bids from receipt of the RFP through submission. This individual will have specialized knowledge of their primary business segment, with the ability to support other segments as needed. The Proposal Support Advisor is responsible for concurrently managing multiple proposals with aggressive deadlines. They support follow-up, finalist, and contracting activities, as needed.

The RFP process includes: appropriately engaging sales, account management, and other cross-functional leadership to review and develop a market-specific bid strategy and working together to understand and resolve any bid challenges; formatting RFP response documents in accordance with Express Scripts' brand; researching and incorporating responses from our response database and working with subject matter experts to develop custom responses for questions that need further research or buy-in; working with client pricing to provide a pricing arrangement and responses to pricing-specific questions; and submitting our proposal response externally. In all cases, this position is responsible for ensuring the responses to requests and questions are compliant with RFP requirements, instructions, and Express Scripts' contractual obligations. This includes facilitating negotiations amongst cross-functional partners to increase compliance rates, while appropriately mitigating business risk. The Proposal Support Advisor may review contracts and be accountable for working with legal and other cross-functional SMEs, up through the VP and Senior Staff level, as appropriate, to ensure proper positioning of, and responses to, contract terms in our proposal responses, including redlining of contracts, as required. Specifically, this role is responsible for reviewing bid requirements, assessing associated risk, and making preliminary recommendations regarding eliminating low-risk deviations.

Additionally, the Proposal Support Advisor is responsible for leading cross-functional projects, process enhancements, and departmental initiatives. The position supports developing best practices across the team, building the process and procedures documentation library to ensure compliance and consistency. The Advisor also mentors and trains new team members. They solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify solutions. May lead functional teams or projects. Provides and coordinates client presentations. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as "the go-to person" for the most complex Proposal Support assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years relevant experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • Proficient with MS Office suite, Skype and Webex

  • Strong data analytics capability and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability in managing high visibility projects, sometimes independently

  • Resourceful with a proven ability to exercise good judgement in problem solving

  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; shift priority quickly as needed

  • Adheres to SOP and follows best practices when available


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 84,500 - 140,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
