Job Description
Direct multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This critical role requires continuous coordination of maintenance-related activities, workforce planning, and effective communication to drive world-class asset reliability and maximize uptime of complex, high-speed automated equipment. You will lead the day-to-day Maintenance operations and act as a mentor and coach for front line supervisors in technical and leadership competencies.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Operations / Productivity Initiatives
  • Lead and develop a maintenance organization consisting of supervisors, planners, team leaders, and over 30 hourly technicians.
  • Direct the maintenance and reliability of complex automated systems, including PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial networking infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting major downtime events with the support of engineering and other technical resources as needed.
  • Champion Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts on critical, major downtime events to implement permanent engineering or process solutions that eliminate recurring failures.
  • Assist in establishing annual budgets for maintenance, including overtime, supplies, and equipment expenditures.
  • Manage Maintenance shift supervisors in the implementation and administration of company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in production, safety, and plant leadership team (PLT) meetings; communicating goals/objectives/priorities to the team.
  • Support the development and implementation of Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Cost and Continuous Improvement Programs.
  • Ensure that performance evaluations are completed as needed and training opportunities are identified, prioritized, and made available as budget allows.
  • This position reports directly to the site Technical Manager
  • Establish and manage the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) spare parts strategy to ensure critical component availability while optimizing inventory spend and minimizing obsolescence.
  • Drive the transition to a proactive maintenance culture, achieving defined goals for the reduction of corrective and reactive work and maximizing the proportion of preventative and predictive activities.

Leadership / Development Initiatives
  • Mentor and coach all direct and indirect reports.
  • Manage and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring data integrity and use of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, MTBF, and MTTR to inform maintenance strategies.
  • Promote and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the workforce both within and outside of the maintenance team.
  • Support performance management activities - including performance evaluation, objective setting, and developmental planning for hourly manufacturing employees.
  • Establish performance and development plans for Shift Team Managers and direct reports, establishing SMART performance objectives that can be measured.
  • Ensure effective training of new employees and continued cross-training and development of existing maintenance personnel, and support production in developing first-line technical troubleshooting skills for operators
  • Assist Team Managers in the management of employee relations, including discipline, employee conduct, and performance
  • Drive standard work and 5S Initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Support the implementation of ELS (Enterprise Lean Sigma) and Six Sigma initiatives, including employee training.
  • Safety Training Initiatives
  • Act as safety champion and provide safety leadership through modeling appropriate behavior and adherence to all safety policies and processes.
  • Provide training, quarterly reviews and support to the safety team as needed.
  • Conduct accident investigations as needed.
  • Work with Occupational Health Nurse to manage return to work/workforce restrictions as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years Maintenance experience with 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with proven results in leading and managing individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage capital expenditure reliability projects, control maintenance budgets, and strategically drive cost savings through reliability improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills in strategy, communication at all levels and execution.
  • Strong leadership skills. Ability to lead, contribute, and influence others in a team-based organization
