Responsibilities
The Dry External Manufacturing (DRY-EM) organization works with contract manufacturers (CMs) to increase packaging capacity for Lilly products.
The Packaging Engineer role in the DRY-EM will be responsible of assuring that the printed packaging materials (PPMs) used by the CMs meet the technical requirements of the packaging lines and also Lilly Standards.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Management of layouts: templates with the graphic and technical elements to ensure proper artworks development and function on the packaging line.
  • Maintenance of the BLUE metadata for the layouts and its connection with the rest of the components of the PPM specification (artworks and specifications) in the system.
  • Owner of the Qualified Format List (QFL), key document for artworks development with regional groups.
  • Work with Global Packaging during the first's steps of a CM initiation to make sure that DRY-EM and/or Global layouts are identified or developed, so that artworks can be developed in a timely manner.
  • Be involved in testing activities and qualifications at the CMs.
  • Owner of the Site Technical Changes (STCs) requested by the CMs, coordinating the PPMs changes with the CM, global packaging and regulatory groups, PPD teams and DRY-EM.
  • Work closely with the Packaging Coordinator and Specification Coordinator for the correct PPM development.
  • Participate in the materials specifications management with the Specification Coordinator (back up for specifications activities).
  • Member of the Specifications Change Review Board (sCRB), proposing changes to global layouts if needed.
  • Have a holistic view of all PPM projects ongoing for the DRY-EM.
  • Lead /support packaging investigations as need it withing the DRY-EM network ,
  • Lead/ support packaging projects including but not limited to digital transformation as part of continues improvement.

  • EU-PPD team and US-PPD teams.
  • Global Packaging group.
  • QA groups.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field with experience in PPM management or other similar technical background.
  • 2+ years of experience in printed packaging materials, or packaging in the pharmaceutical space
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Additional Preferences:
  • Fluent English.

This role is located onsite in Indianapolis, IN and is not approved for fully remote work.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$65,250 - $145,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
