Quantum Engineer II, Device Test & Measurement About the role

D-Wave is seeking a talented and selfโ€‘motivated Quantum Engineer II to join our Advanced Device Development group. In this role you will develop and execute measurements for advanced quantum device characterization, analyze device performance data, and support the validation of new device concepts. You will improve experimental workflows, contribute to experiment automation and dataโ€‘analysis capabilities, and collaborate with crossโ€‘functional teams to provide feedback into deviceโ€‘development cycles.

What youโ€™ll do
  • Design and perform microwave, electrical, and cryogenic measurements
  • Maintain and optimize cryogenic and measurement systems, including associated workflows, to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Develop and execute experiments for device characterization and validation
  • Perform data analysis to identify device performance characteristics and key contributing factors
  • Develop and maintain experiment automation and dataโ€‘analysis pipelines
  • Identify procedure or tool issues and help implement practical improvements
  • Collaborate with crossโ€‘functional teams to support device evaluation and provide experimental feedback into development cycles
  • Maintain wellโ€‘organized documentation of methods, results, and datasets
About You
  • M.Sc. and/or 2 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, or related field
  • Experience with superconducting quantum devices, device physics, and measurement techniques
  • Experience in DC/RF measurements and cryogenic systems
  • Proficiency in scientific programming for instrument control, data acquisition, analysis, and automation
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot technical issues, and identify practical solutions
  • Strong written and verbal scientific communication skills
  • Strong teamwork skills in interdisciplinary physics and engineering environments
