Position Summary

The Test Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support and guidance to the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor. The Test Engineer will work closely with the Engineering department concerning product design to ensure efficient test methods.

In this role, you will be a hands-on individual contributor in Technical Operations and work as part of the Operations & Supply Chain team, reporting to the Director, Operations & Supply Chain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Engineering department concerning product design to ensure efficient test methods.
  • Designs the manufacturing test process for new parts or products.
  • Interfaces with test equipment suppliers on test equipment selection, issues, and maintenance.
  • Reviews and signs off on all ECR's and generates ECR's as required.
  • Maintains and programs the LabVIEW/TestStand, In-Circuit Test stations.
  • Configures and sets up computer software at a systems level.
  • Troubleshoots PCBs to the component level.
  • Experience with embedded software programming (e.g., C, C++, Python).
  • Designs, builds, sets up, and operates automatic and manual test equipment, including in circuit test, functional tests, and bench tests.
  • Pre-qualifies alternate components.
  • Executes root cause analysis on in-house and field product.
  • Generates and maintains CAR & SCAR database.
  • Writes, maintains, and trains operators on procedures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on production test equipment as required.
  • Tracks and reports on test first pass yield metrics.
  • Supports the execution of Lean events/Continuous Improvement.
  • Support production as needed (first article inspection, special builds, etc.).
  • Utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning-based tools to analyze test data, identify trends, and improve product quality and manufacturing test processes.
Required Education and Experience
  • 2-5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Conversant with configuring computers for communications protocol.
  • Able to interpret PCB schematics, bill of materials, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and test procedures.
  • Competent in troubleshooting electronic circuits containing simple microprocessor designs, power supplies, AC and DC circuits down to the component level.
  • Strong soldering and de-solder skills for both thru hole and surface mount components.
  • Ability to be hands-on and perform light mechanical assembly.
  • Familiar with the use of oscilloscopes, frequency counter, digital voltmeter, flash programming tools.
  • Fluent in LabVIEW/Test Stand and In Circuit Testing.
  • Able to modify existing and write new test programs for the LabVIEW/TestStand and In-Circuit test equipment.
  • Familiarity with IPC specifications and/or IPC certification is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional reasoning & technical problem-solving skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented, well organized, and able to multitask.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
