About the position:Director of Sales at Hilton Garden Inn Kent Island Marinais responsible for leading all revenue-generation efforts for the 91-room Hilton Garden Inn Kent Island Marina, a waterfront hotel located on Maryland's Eastern Shore. This role drives revenue across SMERF, wedding, corporate, group, and leisure segments, with a strong emphasis on weddings, social events, reunions, and association business, while maximizing utilization of the property's approximately 1,900 square feet of meeting and event space. The Director of Sales partners closely with hotel leadership to develop strategic sales initiatives, cultivate local and regional relationships, and position the hotel as a premier destination for waterfront weddings, social gatherings, retreats, and group travel. Success in this role requires proactive business development, community engagement, and the ability to leverage the property's marina-front setting, Chesapeake Bay views, and event capabilities to drive revenue and market share.


Core Responsibilities:
  • Develop sales strategies for property, including targeted market segments, rate management, solicitation procedures and advertising.
  • Develop a realistic annual marketing plan, forecast with monthly reviews to update and modify as required by market conditions.
  • Emphasize control procedures and yield management to assure a proper balance of rate availability to market demand.
  • Establish and executive an effective outside sales program.
  • Direct internal servicing of groups.
  • Act in concert with hotel management team and property General Manager.
  • Train all sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable to actionable results.
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates.
  • Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by General Manager.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of hotel sales experience, preferably within a branded hotel environment.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Sales Manager, Sales Manager, or comparable hotel sales leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success driving SMERF, wedding, social, reunion, association, and group business.
  • Strong local market knowledge and existing relationships within the Eastern Shore, Annapolis, Kent Island, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. markets preferred.
  • Experience selling guest rooms, meeting space, and catering/event opportunities.
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop, and close new business while maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Strong networking and community engagement skills.
  • Experience conducting site tours, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and managing group accounts.
  • Understanding of hotel revenue management principles, forecasting, budgeting, and market analysis.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and follow-up skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems such as Delphi, OnQ, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends for client events, weddings, networking functions, and community activities.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent hospitality sales experience will be considered.
  • Local candidate strongly preferred.
  • Hilton experience preferred but not required.
