Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Learning and Development Leader for our lumber mill in Frisco City, AL. The Learning and Development Leader will work with all employees in the plant to help develop standard operating procedures, based on current processes. The Leader will focus on solidifying processes while looking for areas of improvement throughout the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation process. The position will require a strong commitment to safety standards and a thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes. The position will also lead employee Engagement and PBM training along with Supervisor development. This position will report to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the HR Manager. Our Rocky Creek facility produces a variety of products from southern yellow pine, including dimension lumber, heavy studs, squares/timbers and barn timbers. What You Will Do
  • Creating SOPs and training videos/presentations, following the GP writing standards, by researching current processes using data gathering methods such as employee interviewing, monitoring and/or performing the processes as they are
  • Evaluating any operational processes for understanding the technical requirements needed to perform the functions
  • Reviewing any current documentation standards for accuracy and/or improvement opportunities and formalizing those operational procedures
  • Validating the accuracy of the newly implemented and/or finalized SOPs by continuously monitoring the processes
  • Working with other Wood Products Technical Standards & Training Leaders to benchmark best practices that can be utilized in the plant
  • Helping Leadership with the training of current and future employees on new SOPs, when implemented and/or finalized
  • Tracking metrics on the performance of any newly implemented processes
  • Creating and monitoring new hire onboarding training processes along with measuring the success of the training paths
  • Participating in the New Hire Orientation process, as needed
  • Lead Employee engagement activities
  • Lead PBM training for the team

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) in a work environment
  • Experience operating software programs and inputting data
