The Role

As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of a regional sales territory, developing new business opportunities while growing existing customer accounts across the education sector.

You'll work consultatively with schools, Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), colleges, training providers, local authorities, and international education partners to understand their needs and recommend innovative EdTech, digital learning, and education software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a regional business development strategy that delivers sustainable sales growth across schools, colleges, training providers, and international education markets.
  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, inbound enquiries, product demonstrations, and relationship-led consultative selling.
  • Build long-term relationships with school leaders, senior decision-makers, local authorities, Multi-Academy Trusts, education providers, and international education partners.
  • Promote innovative Education Technology solutions, literacy software, digital learning platforms, educational resources, and wider education services across your assigned region.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation and discovery meetings through presentations, proposal development, negotiation, contract agreement, and customer onboarding.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing customer accounts through strategic account management, cross-selling, upselling, and long-term partnership development.
  • Deliver engaging face-to-face and virtual product demonstrations, presentations, exhibitions, conferences, and education sector networking events.
  • Maintain an accurate CRM pipeline, monitor sales performance, produce forecasts, and use market intelligence to identify emerging opportunities and customer trends.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing, Customer Experience, Product Development, and internal commercial teams to maximise customer engagement and commercial success.
  • Provide customer feedback and sector insight to support product development, pricing strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys building relationships and delivering consultative solutions within EdTech, Education, SaaS, or B2B sales environments.

You'll have

  • Proven experience within Business Development, Account Management, Education Sales, School Partnerships, or consultative B2B sales with a consistent record of achieving commercial targets.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and develop trusted partnerships across education or commercial organisations.
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline, CRM system, customer accounts, and regional territory while balancing new business development with account growth.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, communication, and consultative selling skills with the confidence to deliver product demonstrations and commercial proposals.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver results within a target-driven environment.
  • A proactive, commercially focused approach with the motivation to identify opportunities, solve customer challenges, and contribute to long-term business growth.

Desirable

  • Experience selling Education Technology (EdTech), SaaS, education software, digital learning platforms, MIS systems, literacy or numeracy software, or educational services.
  • Knowledge of the UK education sector, including schools, colleges, Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), training providers, or local authorities.
  • Experience working with education procurement processes, framework agreements, tenders, or public sector sales environments.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays and regular attendance at the Lancaster Head Office.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £30,000 – £36,000 plus generous bonus.
  • Hybrid working with flexible working options available.
