Position Summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an SAP Developer to support our SAP platform, with primary responsibility for Billing and Customer Choice solutions. This role is responsible for the design, development, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of SAP processes that enable critical utility customer billing and competitive market operations. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance SAP solutions supporting utility billing and deregulated market operations.

  • Partner with business clients and functional teams to analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical specifications and solutions.

  • Design, develop, and support SAP programs, reports, interfaces, workflows, enhancements, and integrations. 

  • Develop solutions that adhere to established development standards, security requirements, and best practices.

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve application defects and production issues.

  • Develop and execute unit test plans and support user acceptance testing activities.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation for implemented solutions and support procedures.

  • Provide day-to-day production support, including incident resolution, root cause analysis, and operational monitoring. 

  • Support customer nightly batch processing, including occasional after-hours support activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; or equivalent work experience.

  • SAP ABAP development experience.

  • Working knowledge of SAP development lifecycle processes, transports, and production support activities.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for software development and technical problem solving.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Strong commitment to customer service, continuous learning, and process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP IS-U experience, particularly within Billing, Invoicing, FICA, or Deregulation/Customer Choice processes.

  • Understanding of utility billing processes and competitive retail energy markets.

  • Experience supporting enterprise production applications and participating in on-call support rotations.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn SAP IDOC Processing, EDI Transactions, and Batch Processing for supporting Customer 

  • Knowledge of Data Dictionary, Workflow, ABAP Objects, and performance improvement.
