POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs the duties necessary to provide support and assistance to the Victim/Witness Unit staff in advocating for crime victims regarding their right to restitution under Pennsylvania law.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for receiving and processing all restitution requests submitted for criminal cases.
- Screening of all restitution forms for accuracy/completeness and contacting victims as necessary to obtain required documentation and/or clarification.
- Ensuring that restitution paperwork is placed in the case file or given to the assigned attorney in a timely manner, prior to the disposition of the case.
- Entering victim information into the Common Pleas Case Management system for payment.
- Sending disposition letters and restitution information to victims when restitution is ordered.
- Must be willing to receive basic training regarding restitution laws and statutes in Pennsylvania.
- Must meet all required clearances for employment (i.e. Criminal record check & Act 33 - Child Abuse)
- Works under the direction of the Senior Victim/Witness Assistants
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice/legal system, with experience in working with victims/witnesses of crime, preferred.
- Experience with word processing and computer software, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and related office systems.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
- Ability to handle confidential information
