Job description

Come Lead the Shindigs Way
Shindigs Riverside is looking for an Assistant Manager who loves hospitality, enjoys leading people, and knows how to bring positive energy to a busy restaurant.

We believe great restaurants are built by great teams. We’re looking for someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, takes ownership, and genuinely cares about both the guest experience and the people they work alongside.

Restaurant experience is important, but attitude, character, leadership potential, and willingness to learn matter just as much.

If you're the kind of leader who jumps in when the team needs help, solves problems instead of creating them, and wants to help build a workplace people are proud to be part of, we'd love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager and ownership to help lead day-to-day restaurant operations, with a strong emphasis on front-of-house service, bar operations, team leadership, and shift execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead restaurant shifts and maintain a positive, professional atmosphere
  • Coach, encourage, and develop team members
  • Help create and maintain employee schedules
  • Review upcoming reservations and events to ensure appropriate staffing
  • Assign sections and positions based on business needs and team performance
  • Monitor guest service and step in quickly when problems arise
  • Support servers, bartenders, hosts, bussers, food runners, and other team members during busy periods
  • Ensure opening, running, and closing procedures are completed correctly
  • Verify server and bartender shift closeouts, cash handling, and required paperwork
  • Help maintain appropriate labor levels throughout each shift
  • Support hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new employees
  • Provide timely coaching and performance feedback
  • Help ensure employees receive required meal and rest periods
  • Maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, safety, and presentation standards
  • Communicate important updates to the team and fellow managers
  • Help maintain accurate menus, promotions, and operational information
  • Assist with bar operations and responsible alcohol-service standards
  • Help create a workplace built around teamwork, accountability, respect, integrity, and great hospitality
  • Address employee or guest concerns professionally and involve senior management when appropriate
  • Lead by example — no task is beneath a Shindigs leader

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has restaurant, hospitality, or related leadership experience
  • Has previous supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Understands full-service restaurant operations
  • Is comfortable leading both FOH and bar teams
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully
  • Can coach employees without talking down to them
  • Remains calm and makes good decisions during busy or stressful shifts
  • Has strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Is comfortable working with scheduling, POS, cash-handling, and restaurant technology
  • Understands that great leadership means both setting expectations and supporting the team
  • Takes responsibility when something goes wrong and works to fix it
  • Has reliable attendance and demonstrates professionalism
  • Is available to work a flexible restaurant schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
  • Wants to grow with Shindigs and help make the restaurant better

The Kind of Leader We Want

We aren't looking for someone who simply wants the title of manager.

We're looking for someone who:

Serves first. - Great leaders don't stand on the sidelines. They help their team succeed.

Takes ownership. - If there's a problem, we look for the solution instead of looking for someone to blame.

Treats people with respect. - We can hold high standards while still treating people well.

Protects the guest experience. - Guests should feel welcomed, appreciated, and taken care of.

Brings positive energy. - Managers set the temperature of the restaurant. Your attitude matters.

Develops people. - A successful manager doesn't just run a shift — they help build better employees and future leaders.

Join the Shindigs Team

Shindigs Riverside is more than somewhere to eat and drink. We're building a restaurant where guests want to come back, employees want to work, and good people have an opportunity to grow.

If you're ready to lead from the front, take care of people, and help us continue building something special in Riverside, we'd like to hear from you.
