Job Summary and Qualifications

Mission Sports Medicine is seeking a PRN NCHSAA Qualified First Responder to join our team of driven healthcare professionals who provides evidence-based healthcare to the student athletes of Highlands School. This first responder will be an active member of the Mission Sports Medicine department and promote exceptional healthcare that is built on the foundation of belonging, compassion and respect for our patients and each other. They will also possess contemporary expertise and clinical competence with a focus on patient centered care. This position will collaborate with selected area physicians to provide onsite care of Highlands School with the full support of Mission Sports Medicine and Highlands- Cashiers Hospital.   


Essential Accountabilities include but are not limited to: 


  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to patient-centered care through purposeful and skilled interaction, promoting evidence-based and best practice procedures, techniques, and recommendations to produce a change in condition/function consistent with diagnosis and prognosis. 


  • Builds effective relationships with team providers, interdisciplinary clinicians, coaches, leadership, the organization’s administration, and other pertinent parties. 


  • Collaborates with and ensures accurate, effective, and timely communication to district Athletic Trainers, Team Physician, coaches, administration, and others involved in the patient’s care to ensure continuity of care. 


  • Maintains up-to-date and comprehensive patient records in accordance with department policy and other regulatory agencies 


  • Promotes safe and appropriate practice, competition, and treatment facilities, following department and state guidelines.  


  • Maintains up-to-date Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and reviews with pertinent parties to ensure seamless delivery of emergent care. 


  • Completes other duties, as assigned or requested, to support departmental operation, and to ensure quality clinical outcomes and patient expectations are met or exceeded. 


Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: 


Required Education:High School Diploma 


Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree 


Required License: Completion of NCHSAA First Responder Requirements https://www.nchsaa.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/First-Responder-Requirements.pdf  


Required Experience: Demonstrated effective communication, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Working knowledge Office programs, data entry, and internet functions. 


Preferred Experience: Clinical experiences working with secondary school athletics. High risk, collision sports experience.
