Job description

The Sterile Processing Technician decontaminates, cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments and supplies. Assembles and maintains inventories of surgical and floor 
trays. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Experience in sterile processing or as a surgical technician
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

  • Must obtain within 18 months from date of hire or transfer into position either:
  • Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board of Sterile Processing & Distribution (CBSPD) or,
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): NA
