Drive Performance, Support Innovation & Make an Impact as a Facilities Maintenance Technician with PDS Tech Commercial! 

Location: Charlotte, NC | Pay Rate: $30.64/hour | Schedule: M-F (11pm - 7:30am) (Weekends/OT as needed)

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team in the manufacturing industry. This hands-on role is essential to the day-to-day functionality of our engineering labs, where cutting-edge research and development takes place. Your work will directly support innovation by ensuring that our mechanical, HVAC, and testing systems operate safely and efficiently. 

 
 

What You'll Do: 

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of lab infrastructure and test systems. You’ll work closely with engineers, technicians, and facility staff to ensure that lab operations remain uninterrupted and compliant with safety and quality standards. 

Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on lab infrastructure and HVAC test equipment. 

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including compressors, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, and more. 

  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of test rigs and lab systems—performing mechanical hookups, alignments, and calibrations. 

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service documentation. 

  • Inspect and ensure safety compliance of utilities such as chilled water, compressed air, refrigerant systems, and electrical interfaces. 

  • Adhere to and enforce safety protocols and lab procedures per Carrier and regulatory standards. 

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance workspaces and parts inventory. 

 
 

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED 

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance or HVAC systems within a lab, industrial, or manufacturing environment 

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals 

  • Skilled with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments 

  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety protocols 

  • Experience working in dynamic environments with experimental or prototype equipment 

  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills 

 
 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal) 

  • Experience with HVAC/R test labs or environmental chambers 

  • Forklift or overhead crane certification 

 
 

Work Environment: 

  • Physically active role involving frequent standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), ladder use, and proximity to mechanical equipment 

  • Exposure to variable temperatures, refrigerants, compressed gases, and other lab-specific conditions 

  • Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required to support time-sensitive maintenance needs
