Job description

Summary: 

The Procurement Specialist position is a member of the North America Procurement team supporting the Services, Spare Parts & O&M business across Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role is responsible for leading operational sourcing activities, administering standard supplier agreements, managing the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, and driving supplier performance to ensure the timely availability of spare parts, materials, equipment, and services that support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Warehousing, Finance, Legal, and other cross-functional stakeholders, the Procurement Specialist will lead competitive sourcing events, negotiate pricing and standard commercial terms, administer supplier agreements, manage supplier relationships, and deliver best value while supporting business continuity and operational excellence.

This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 3 days in office.

Requirements:   

  • Leads Request for Proposal (RFP) and sourcing activities, including supplier identification, bid evaluations, commercial analysis, negotiations, and supplier award recommendations to achieve best value for RES.
  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to understand operational requirements, formalize demand, and develop sourcing strategies that support business objectives.
  • Builds and maintains a strong supplier network for spare parts, materials, equipment, and services to support operational requirements and business objectives.
  • Administers standard supplier agreements and purchase contracts, identifying commercial or contractual risks and escalating non-standard terms to Procurement leadership and Legal as appropriate.
  • Advises Operations and internal stakeholders on medium-spend and low-to-medium risk procurement activities while identifying sourcing opportunities, supply risks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes work with procurement support team members to ensure efficient execution of transactional procurement activities, purchase order processing, supplier communications, and expediting activities.
  • Develops strong supplier relationships and drives supplier performance through regular communication, performance metrics, scorecards, and issue resolution. =
  • Develops a strong understanding of critical spare parts, materials, equipment, and services used across Wind, Solar, and BESS operations to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
  • Manages the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including sourcing, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, supplier communications, expediting, and delivery coordination to ensure business continuity and operational excellence.
  • Coordinates with Operations, Engineering, Warehousing, Finance, Logistics, and other cross-functional stakeholders to resolve supply, delivery, quality, inventory, and invoice discrepancies.
  • Makes recommendations for procurement process improvements, including supplier performance, e-sourcing, catalog management, guided buying, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Takes a proactive approach to the scopes being handled to ensure lead times and pricing are accurately communicated and identifies the best path to market.
  • Troubleshoots and trains internal Procurement staff and stakeholders on software use and best practices.
  • Works in coordination with procurement support team members to effectively execute transactional procurement activities, maintain data accuracy, and ensure timely delivery of procurement services.
  • Works with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) group to evaluate subcontractors, implement safe practices, mitigate safety risks, and ensure subcontractors are prequalified before beginning on-site work.
  • Participates in required training and follows Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS), and Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures.
  • Learns and actively drives the use of the various software platforms Procurement uses, including ERP systems, e-sourcing platforms, SharePoint, Hive World, ISN, and other resources.

Safety:

  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or equivalent degree, or 3+ years of military/education/relevant work/field experience combination is required.
  • ISM, CPSM, or CIPS certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years negotiating purchase orders, supplier agreements, and standard commercial terms, with experience leading sourcing events (RFPs/RFQs), is preferred.
  • Ability to travel 16-30%.

Required:

  • Price and terms and conditions negotiation experience.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload and category responsibilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including in scenarios where information is uncertain and timeframes are tight.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in written documentation while managing high-volume workload.
  • Experience issuing and managing multiple RFPs across different categories and stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with team members, suppliers, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • High level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel including pivot tables, and PowerPoint).

Highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Category management experience.
  • Understanding of macro-level market conditions and their impact on procurement categories.
  • Knowledge of Wind, Solar, or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) operations and procurement.
  • Experience supporting procurement activities with major wind turbine OEMs such as Vestas, Nordex, Siemens Gamesa (SGRE), or GE Vernova.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, prioritization, business acumen, collaboration, and self-knowledge & self-learning.

Anticipated base salary range:  $70,000 - $92,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
