POSITION PURPOSE

The External Financial Reporting Intern works directly with the SEC reporting group for one of Birmingham's few publicly traded companies. The intern is responsible for assisting in the preparation of the external financial reports including, but not limited to, Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q, Current Reports on Form 8-K, and Quarterly Earnings Release materials. The intern will gain an understanding of how financial and operational data flows from the accounting system to the end financial reports and the role of each team within the accounting department.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Gathers and analyzes data from a variety of sources for all external financial reports;
  • Assists in the preparation and filing of all external financial reports;
  • Assists in compilation of financial data to support all reports/filings;
  • Executes internal controls related to the financial reporting process;
  • Protects sensitive information;
  • Assists with special projects as needed; and
  • Participates in all intern specific activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a college or university and pursing a bachelor's in accounting
  • Must have an interest in department in which they are interning
  • Class experience in prospective field is preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to work in our Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama from Monday, June 7th, 2027, to Friday, July 30, 2027
