Job description


  • Facility University Medical Center of El Paso

  • Schedule - Shift - Hours Full Time - Days - Days 8 am - 5 pm


The Manager of Strategy Analytics serves as a leader within the Strategic Analytics department, overseeing analytics operations, coordinating organizational data, and reporting requests, supervising analytics staff, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality, data-driven solutions that support organizational decision-making.


Serves as the primary intake and coordination point for analytics, reporting, and data requests across the organization, utilizing established project management and work intake systems to prioritize, assign, monitor, and communicate progress on departmental projects. Functions as the primary liaison for data, reporting, and analytics requests originating from the Finance Division and works closely with finance leadership to ensure requests are prioritized and executed in accordance with the strategic and operational priorities established by the District Chief Financial Officer.


Responsible for maintaining visibility into departmental workload, balancing competing priorities, escalating strategic issues to leadership, and ensuring the successful execution of analytics initiatives.


Work Experience:

Five years of experience performing advanced analytics and data-driven solutions' delivery utilizing a broad spectrum of core hospital data. Must possess significant experience collecting detailed requirements for and executing data-driven solutions. Significant experience managing requirements and standards within databases to ensure the highest quality data and results from its use. Experience creating reusable data processing and analytics tools to establish ultimate efficiency in processes that are regularly required to repeat.


Three years of management experience required.


License/Registration/Certification:

Education and Training:

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Systems or related field required.


Skills:

  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Broad knowledge of hospital operation in all areas and use of related data.

  • Excellent business and system analysis skills. Ability to translate user requirements into a logical process to deliver appropriate data driven solutions.

  • Proficient in learning new technologies with no prior experience.

  • Proficiency in design and documentation of tools and solutions.

  • Ability to manage stressful situations particularly caused by high-priority and/or significantly time constrained requests.

  • Ability to establish requirements for data driven solutions with people from varying disciplines and degrees of technical expertise.

  • Must be self-motivated, analytical, a good troubleshooter and goal oriented.

  • Experience in as many of the following programming languages as possible: Microsoft T-SQL, VBScript, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), CCL, Oracle SQL.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft T-SQL.

  • Appropriately manages priorities in terms of time and scheduling to effectively respond to the highest priorities of the executive leadership of the organization first and then to the priorities Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop technical staff.

  • Skill in evaluating project complexity, organizational impact, and resource requirements.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, methodologies, and costโ€‘allocation structures.

  • Knowledge of healthcare data sources (EHR, billing, ERP, cost accounting, clinical systems).

  • Understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to analyze cost variances, operational inefficiencies, and financial performance drivers.
