Title: Cognos Report Developer

Location: Alpharetta, GA and Wilmington, DE (5 days onsite)

A Cognos Report Developer designs, develops, and maintains business intelligence reports, interactive dashboards, and scorecards using IBM Cognos Analytics. They collaborate with business stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable technical solutions, ensuring report accuracy, optimized performance, and seamless data integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report Development: Design and build complex reports (e.g., Drill-down, Crosstab, Master-Detail, Conditional Formatting) utilizing Cognos Report Studio and Cognos Analytics.
  • Dashboarding: Create visually intuitive dashboards and KPIs that drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and maintain Framework Manager models, data modules, and metadata structures to support reporting.
  • Requirement Analysis: Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  • Optimization & Troubleshooting: Optimize report performance, fine-tune SQL queries, and resolve production defects or data discrepancies.
  • Testing & UAT: Perform unit testing, debugging, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure data accuracy.
  • Environment Maintenance: Assist with report scheduling, user permissions, and Cognos security administration.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Core Tooling: Hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics , Framework Manager, Report Studio.
  • Database Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL writing, query optimization, and relational databases.
  • Data Warehousing: Solid understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional modeling .
