What is a remote zoning?

A Remote Zoning job involves reviewing and interpreting zoning laws, land use regulations, and planning codes for various jurisdictions while working from a remote location. Professionals in this role help developers, property owners, and municipalities ensure that projects comply with local zoning ordinances. They may also assist in preparing applications, zoning reports, and communicate with planning officials. Strong knowledge of zoning regulations and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this field.

How does a remote zoning specialist typically collaborate with local government agencies and internal teams to ensure project compliance?

As a Remote Zoning Specialist, you will regularly coordinate with local government agencies to interpret and apply zoning codes, often participating in virtual meetings and exchanging documentation electronically. Close collaboration with internal teams—such as project managers, architects, and legal staff—is essential for ensuring all projects meet relevant zoning requirements and deadlines. Effective communication and proactive problem-solving are key, as you may need to clarify zoning restrictions or negotiate variances across different jurisdictions. This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in regional regulations and build strong professional networks, which can be valuable for career advancement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote zoning specialist, and why are they important?

Familiarity with GIS software, zoning mapping tools, and digital permitting systems is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, effective written communication, and problem-solving abilities help professionals excel in reviewing applications and liaising with stakeholders remotely. These skills are essential for ensuring compliance, facilitating development projects, and maintaining effective communication while working in a remote environment.

Job description

Regional Sales Executive – Flexible Packaging (Mountain Region)

Our client is a long-established flexible packaging distributor with over 50 years of success in the industry. Serving primarily the agricultural and industrial sectors, they offer a wide range of packaging solutions — from bulk polypropylene bags to fully customized supply chain programs. With decades of experience, strong supplier relationships, and nationwide reach, the company provides the resources of a large distributor while maintaining the responsiveness and close-knit culture of a smaller organization.

About the Role

We’re seeking a driven and experienced Regional Sales Executive to expand and manage business across the Mountain and Midwest region, including Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.

This position is remote, ideally based in Colorado or within the Mountain Time Zone to stay closely aligned with the company’s West Coast operations. The territory will involve significant air travel, including regular trips throughout the four-state region to meet customers and prospects face-to-face.

New hires will work closely with company leadership and tenured team members during onboarding, including multiple visits to company headquarters for product training and customer introductions.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, develop, and close new business opportunities across the assigned territory.
  • Manage and grow existing client relationships through consistent communication and service.
  • Plan and execute territory strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Travel frequently across multiple states (estimated 70–75% travel, including air travel).
  • Collaborate with leadership to align sales goals, priorities, and account management strategies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
  • First-Year OTE: $120,000+
  • Long-Term OTE: $150,000+ after 2–3 years
  • Company Vehicle and Expense Account Provided
  • Extensive Regional Travel Required

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3 years of B2B outside sales experience.
  • Proven track record managing multi-state territories and exceeding quotas.
  • Strong hunter mentality with the ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Experience in commodities, packaging, or industrial materials sales preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively by both car and air.
  • Energetic, persistent, and motivated to build a lasting book of business.

Why This Opportunity

This is a high-impact, growth-focused role for a motivated sales professional seeking autonomy, travel, and strong earning potential. You’ll represent a respected name in the flexible packaging industry — one known for quality, reliability, and long-term partnerships — while enjoying the culture and support of a smaller, people-first organization.
