Testers are expected to document bugs and feedback using bug-tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail, providing detailed descriptions, screenshots, or video evidence. Regular virtual meetings and status updates help maintain alignment with the broader team. While remote, strong written communication and self-motivation are essential, as real-time interaction with teammates is limited compared to on-site roles.

Remote Xbox game testers are individuals who play pre-release or updated Xbox games from their own location to identify bugs, glitches, and other issues. They provide detailed feedback to developers to help improve the quality and playability of the games before they are launched to the public. This role often involves following specific testing instructions, documenting errors, and sometimes suggesting improvements. Testers must be detail-oriented, communicate clearly, and have a passion for gaming. While some positions are entry-level, others may require prior experience or technical knowledge.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Xbox Game Tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Xbox Game Tester, you need strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of gaming mechanics, typically supported by experience with video games and sometimes a relevant degree or certification in game testing or quality assurance. Familiarity with bug tracking software, test case management tools, and various Xbox platforms is commonly required. We take ownership, seek excellence, and play to win with the seriousness and camaraderie of an Olympic team. Onebrief operates as an all-remote company, though many of our employees work alongside our customers at military commands around the world.
Founded in 2019 by a group of experienced planners, today, Onebrief's team spans veterans from all forces and global organizations, and technologists from leading-edge software companies. We've raised $320m+ from top-tier investors, including Battery Ventures, General Catalyst, Sapphire Ventures, Insight Partners, and Human Capital, and today, Onebrief is valued at $2.15B. With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.

In this role, you will focus on testing AtomEngine's core functionality while supporting our development team as they continuously improve the simulation platform. Join our small, expert team of technologists, game developers, and innovators as we shape the future.
What You'll Do

  • Identify bugs, provide actionable feedback, and recommend improvements to AtomEngine and Battle Road's internal processes.
  • Perform a variety of testing tasks in a timely, efficient, and thorough manner.
  • Execute load testing, stability testing, functionality testing, and other testing activities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to quickly learn new systems, remove blockers, and deliver actionable test results in real time.
  • Adapt quickly to fast-moving workflows, shifting priorities, and evolving deliverables.
  • Partner with test leadership to create and maintain clear, detailed test plans and testing procedures.
What We Look For
  • Familiarity with PC gaming hardware.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self-direction.
  • 5+ years of experience in video game quality assurance, with a strong understanding of QA principles, methodologies, and processes.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard testing tools and software, including version control systems, bug tracking systems, and test management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and prioritize testing activities based on project requirements and objectives.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required for this position.

Remote - preference for candidates located in Mountain or Pacific Time Zones.
