How does a remote Xbox game tester typically collaborate with development teams and report issues from a distance?

As a remote Xbox Game Tester, you'll work closely with developers and quality assurance teams primarily through digital communication platforms like Slack, Teams, or email. Testers are expected to document bugs and feedback using bug-tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail, providing detailed descriptions, screenshots, or video evidence. Regular virtual meetings and status updates help maintain alignment with the broader team. While remote, strong written communication and self-motivation are essential, as real-time interaction with teammates is limited compared to on-site roles.

What is a remote Xbox game tester?

Remote Xbox game testers are individuals who play pre-release or updated Xbox games from their own location to identify bugs, glitches, and other issues. They provide detailed feedback to developers to help improve the quality and playability of the games before they are launched to the public. This role often involves following specific testing instructions, documenting errors, and sometimes suggesting improvements. Testers must be detail-oriented, communicate clearly, and have a passion for gaming. While some positions are entry-level, others may require prior experience or technical knowledge.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Xbox game tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Xbox Game Tester, you need strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of gaming mechanics, typically supported by experience with video games and sometimes a relevant degree or certification in game testing or quality assurance. Familiarity with bug tracking software, test case management tools, and various Xbox platforms is commonly required. Job description

Position Title: High School Mentor/Teacher (Fully Remote)
Location: Remote
Company Overview: My Virtual Academy is at the forefront of educational innovation, offering tailored, tuition-free education services that cater to the diverse needs of school districts, communities, parents, and students across Michigan. Since 1991, it has provided a comprehensive approach to overcoming traditional schooling challenges, supporting a wide array of learners from K-12 to young adults. My Virtual Academy is committed to flexibility and accessibility, providing 100% virtual classes, round-the-clock access to learning materials, and essential tech support.
Reports to: High School Team Leader
Position Summary: The High School Mentor at My Virtual Academy serves as the primary point of connection between the student, the online instructor, and school administration. This is a mentoring role rather than a course-instruction role: the mentor monitors student progress, ensures students have the technology and resources they need, advocates for each student, and teaches students to become self-directed, independent learners. Mentors maintain a documented record of weekly two-way contact with every student on their roster and build the kind of relationships that keep students engaged and on track to graduate.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the liaison between the student and administration and advocate for the student throughout their learning experience.
  • Complete at least one documented two-way contact with each student every mentor week, attempting contact in multiple ways until it is made. All contacts are conducted via phone, text, or video using MVA's approved Zoom client.
  • Document all communications in the Genius student information system as they happen and maintain an accurate weekly student roster/activity log.
  • Monitor student academic progress, help students stay on pace to complete courses on time, and refer students to tutoring or technical support as needed.
  • Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians of students under 18, providing regular academic updates and setting clear expectations.
  • Set short- and long-term goals with students to foster educational growth, accountability, and independence.
  • Host one weekly Power Hour-an open student hour that may include project-based learning, interactive virtual games, book club, relationship-building activities, or social-emotional check-ins.
  • Attend an MVA Meetup on any day you are clocked in, and complete a daily End of Day (EOD) report.
  • Conduct EDP reviews via Zoom video with the student and parent, counseling students on credits, graduation requirements, and post-secondary/career goals and documenting outcomes in Genius.
  • Maintain 100% mentor contact during count months (75% during non-count months), document written contacts, and review and e-sign all mentor logs submitted by Pupil Accounting.
  • Notify students of state testing dates, school events, and deadlines.
  • Attend weekly team meetings, individual meetings with your team leader, and bi-monthly MVA All-Staff and High School All-Staff meetings.
  • Complete monthly professional development reflections and maintain professional development tracking.
  • Follow all MVA High School policies and procedures, including Zoom expectations, EDP reviews, student and Genius documentation, withdrawal procedures, and graduation procedures.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification required. If out of state, Michigan certification is required within 2 months of hire.
  • Experience in virtual education, student mentorship, advising, or student support preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong familiarity with digital education platforms such as Zoom, Edmentum, and Genius.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple students, deadlines, and documentation requirements in a remote environment.
  • Experience working with students who have struggled in a traditional school setting.
  • Excellent communication, follow-through, and organizational skills.

Competencies:
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Develop and maintain effective relationships with others; relate well to people from varied backgrounds and in different situations; show understanding, courtesy, tact, empathy, and politeness.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments and to keep detailed documentation current and accurate.
  • Problem Solving: Identify problems, determine accurate and relevant information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
  • Adaptability: Adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.
  • Accountability: Follow through on student contacts, documentation, and deadlines without direct supervision in a fully remote setting.

Pay Rate: Based on education and qualifications, starting at $22.72 per hour with a bachelor's degree and Standard Michigan teaching certificate.
Work Environment: This position is fully remote, allowing flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States with a reliable internet connection. The role emphasizes staying connected and engaged through regular virtual meetings, daily meetups, and check-ins. Mentors are expected to be available and responsive during scheduled work hours, returning all contacts within 48 school hours and before the end of the mentor week.
Company Commitment: My Virtual Academy is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
