Remote within California, 15% Travel
Preferred primary remote work location within two hours of FoundationCCC headquarters in Sacramento and in one of the North or Far North Region counties listed: Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo, Yuba, Butte, Del Norte, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity
We are seeking a Specialist, Workforce Development to join FoundationCCC in its mission of benefiting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges-the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. Together, we are building stronger communities by getting students and colleges the resources they need to succeed and expanding pathways to economic and social mobility across California. What You'll Do
The FoundationCCC's Workforce Development Department (WDD) aims to ensure that all learners in California obtain the knowledge, skills, experiences, and networks needed to connect with meaningful work, expand career options, and increase economic and social mobility. WDD works in four primary areas (1) building capacity within K-12, college, apprenticeship, and workforce development systems to effectively serve learners and businesses; (2) serving as employer-of-record for paid work experience; (3) providing wraparound services resource development support; and (4) developing work-based learning models, tools, and technologies. This work is grounded in a commitment to strengthening systems connectivity, promoting career-relevant, learner-centric education and workforce solutions, and eliminating equity gaps in California.
The Specialist will focus on our WDD grants administration projects, which bring funding to awardees on behalf of state and local partner agencies. The Specialist will support the execution of contracts with awardees, ensure appropriate use of funds, provide guidance to awardees, review and approve awardee invoices, perform report analysis, and capture lessons and successes that can be shared internally and externally within the California workforce development and education systems.
  • Provides oversight of assigned awardees and projects, which may include negotiating contract scopes and budgets, reviewing invoices, monitoring fiscal and program compliance and performance, and providing one-on-support for awardees.
  • Leads program reporting and award management activities for assigned awardees and projects, including providing guidance to awardees, reviewing reports, summarizing data, and ensuring alignment with related guidance and regulations.
  • Tracks project/award specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), business development relationships, and may develop and coordinate funding application processes in collaboration with Senior Specialist
Attributes for Success
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and deliver quality products within agreed upon timeframes, with limited supervision.
  • Experience with the California Community College system and/or Workforce Development preferred.
  • Ability to research, analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex topics to a variety of internal and external audiences, in a variety of formats (e.g. toolkits, reports, graphic displays, presentations).
  • Experience with project and client management software (e.g., Asana, Salesforce) preferred. Experience with Excel required.
  • Experience with grants administration from a funder's perspective.
  • Familiarity with state and federal funding.
  • Willingness to engage in constructive discussion (including disagreement) and keep a good sense of humor.
  • A customer service mindset.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License, good driving record, automobile insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle is required.

Budgeted Annual Salary Pay Range:
$65,000.00 - $70,000.00
Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
