Description of responsibilities:
The Data Analyst is responsible for managing asset management systems, executing complex queries, and providing technical support to ensure efficient asset management operations. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders, developing work processes, supporting capital improvement planning, and implementing best practices. This position works closely with Engineering, IT, Operations, and Leadership to support strategic, organizational asset initiatives.
  • Administer and maintain asset management systems, including CMMS and risk modeling software
  • Configure, update, and enhance Cityworks and related systems to support operational needs
  • Perform complex SQL queries and analyze data from CMMS, GIS, and other systems
  • Utilize SQL to extract data for analysis workbooks, including pivot/visual charts, refreshable data pulls, built-in data models, data processing, updates, PowerBI visualizations, Excel models, and geospatial plotting
  • Support asset management planning, inventorying, and risk profiling initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop work processes for asset management software systems
  • Field and prioritize support requests related to asset management systems, including access/function issues, process procedures, updates, and training requests
  • Train end-users on asset management systems and best practices
  • Develop procedures for routine requests to ensure repeatable processes
Required experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in asset management, data analysis, or business case analysis
  • Experience working with enterprise utility software systems
  • Experience performing complex data queries and developing analytical solutions
  • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across departments
Required skills:
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management
  • Knowledge of asset management principles, best practices, and software
  • Experience with ESRI GIS principles and feature sets
  • Advanced data analysis, modeling, and visualization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel (Power Query platform) and Power BI
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to train and support end-users on technical systems
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to asset management and reporting requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater operations and structure
Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Risk Analysis, Geospatial Technology, Computer Information Systems, or a related field
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
