Job description

About the Company
Inspiren offers the most complete and connected ecosystem in senior living. Founded by Michael Wang, a former Green Beret turned cardiothoracic nurse, Inspiren proves that compassionate care and technology can coexist - bringing peace of mind to residents, families, and staff.
Our integrated solutions seamlessly fit into existing workflows, capturing everything happening within a community. Backed by nurse specialists and powerful analytics, we provide the data operators need to make informed clinical and operational decisions - driving efficiency, profitability, and better care outcomes.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly-skilled Principal RF & Radar Systems Engineer to own and lead the design and execution of our next-generation radar sensing platforms and wireless communication sub-systems for our devices. As a senior member of the hardware engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the connectivity, reliability, and innovative sensing capabilities of our solutions. You will drive innovation in millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar, low-power IoT communications, and robust RF performance, ensure the integration of cutting-edge technologies, and deliver RF/Radar solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, range, and reliability across the lifecycle of all of Inspiren's devices and platforms.
What You'll Do
  • Lead RF & Radar Systems Projects: Oversee the end-to-end development of radar sensing architectures, including module-level, board-level, and flex designs up through mmWave operating frequencies.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with hardware engineers, embedded systems engineers, software developers, product managers, key stakeholders, and our outsourced manufacturing partners to integrate complex radio platforms into Inspiren's ecosystem.
  • Innovate and Optimize: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Author schematics and drive layout optimizations for RF/mmWave modules using extensive EM simulations to realize aggressive product requirements.
  • Embed Rigorous Design for Excellence (DfX) Mindset: Conduct design reviews and both design and process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), partnering with our design and development partners to drive rigorous Design for Cost (DfX), supply chain, reliability, quality, and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Mentor Team Members: Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation through a culture of continuous learning.
  • Ensure Quality, Reliability, and Compliance: Perform RF system lineup analyses to ensure designs meet industry standards. Architect characterization setups and drive debug activities in the lab and at production partner labs, including conducted characterization and OTA characterization in anechoic chambers.
  • Problem-Solve: Troubleshoot complex RF/mmWave design issues, linearity/noise flow-down challenges, and implementation constraints to ensure robust mass production builds.
What You Bring
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant industry experience in RF hardware design, with a focus on wireless communication devices and sensor technology.
  • mmWave & Radar Expertise: Strong knowledge of RF/mmWave hardware design, phased array antenna fundamentals, and FMCW radar principles for human-sensing applications.
  • Simulation & Design Tools: Expert proficiency in schematic, layout, and EM simulation flows using tools such as Cadence Allegro/Capture, Ansys HFSS, and Keysight ADS.
  • System Analysis: Expertise in Tx/Rx specification flow-down, linearity, noise analysis, and IC/package co-design for high-frequency modules.
  • Test Automation: Scripting experience in Python for test automation, data post-processing, and hardware characterization.
