Build the Next Generation of Certification & Exam Prep Businesses

Career Certified is a private equity-backed online education company serving regulated professions through industry-leading brands including The CE Shop, A.D. Banker, and Amber Book.

We're launching a new business unit focused on identifying, building, and scaling certification and exam-preparation products in new markets. Leveraging AI-native workflows, lean venture-building principles, and deep expertise in online education, this team will validate opportunities, launch products quickly, and create repeatable growth engines in regulated industries.

We're looking for a New Venture Director to lead this effort.

This is not a traditional director role. You will act as a business builder, product strategist, operator, and P&L owner responsible for taking new opportunities from concept to launch and ultimately to scale.

If you've successfully built online education, certification, credentialing, or exam-prep businesses and thrive in fast-moving environments where ambiguity is expected, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Build New Ventures from the Ground Up

  • Identify, validate, and prioritize new credentialing and certification markets.
  • Evaluate market opportunities using customer, competitive, and financial data.
  • Develop business cases and launch plans for new education products.
  • Design scalable operating models for content development, product delivery, and go-to-market execution.
  • Partner with executive leadership on market selection, growth strategies, and investment decisions.

Own Product Launches & Growth

  • Lead end-to-end development and launch of online education, certification, and exam-preparation products.
  • Establish launch milestones, success metrics, and validation checkpoints.
  • Make data-driven decisions on whether to scale, refine, pause, or discontinue initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators including revenue, customer acquisition, conversion rates, learner engagement, profitability, and time-to-market.

Lead with P&L Accountability

  • Own budgets, revenue targets, pricing strategies, vendor decisions, and growth investments.
  • Build business forecasts and operating plans.
  • Drive sustainable growth while balancing speed, quality, and profitability.
  • Present results, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership.

Build and Lead Teams

  • Hire, develop, and lead a small, high-performing team.
  • Build and manage networks of subject matter experts, contractors, and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams to deliver business results.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable priorities for technical and non-technical teams.

Leverage AI to Accelerate Growth

  • Utilize AI tools to enhance market research, content production, workflow automation, quality assurance, and operational efficiency.
  • Help shape an AI-first approach to launching and scaling new education products.
  • Apply sound judgment to ensure quality, compliance, and learner outcomes when using AI-generated content.

What Success Looks Like

Within this role, you will:

  • Launch and operationalize new certification and exam-prep businesses.
  • Create repeatable frameworks for evaluating and entering new markets.
  • Deliver strong business performance against growth and profitability objectives.
  • Establish scalable product development and go-to-market processes.
  • Build a high-performing team capable of rapidly launching new opportunities.
  • Help position Career Certified as a leader in AI-enabled professional education.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience building and launching online education, certification, credentialing, or exam-prep products.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with responsibility for budgets, revenue, and business outcomes.
  • Experience launching a new product line, business unit, startup, or venture from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of B2C customer acquisition and learner-focused business models.
  • Experience making business decisions with incomplete information in fast-moving environments.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing contractor or SME networks.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and technology teams to build digital products.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to improve productivity, research, content creation, or operational workflows.
  • Exceptional communication, prioritization, and execution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in exam preparation, professional licensing, certification, or regulated education markets.
  • Healthcare, allied health, medical certification, healthcare education, or health-tech experience.
  • Background in subscription-based or direct-to-consumer ed-tech businesses.
  • Experience with performance marketing and CAC-driven growth strategies.
  • Familiarity with AI-native content production, assessment technologies, or learning platforms.
  • Experience in private equity-backed, startup, venture-building, or entrepreneurial environments.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • Built something from zero to launch
  • Owned business results, not just projects
  • Experience selling directly to consumers or learners
  • Strong AI fluency and practical application experience
  • A builder mindset with bias toward action
  • Experience in education, credentialing, certification, or adjacent industries

Compensation & Benefits

Career Certified offers a competitive compensation package including:

  • Unlimited PTO (take what you need)
  • Paid company holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Tuition reimbursement (subject to approval)
  • 100% discount on Career Certified products and services
  • Remote-first work environment
