Job description

Flow Production Tracking Administrator (6 month CONTRACT)

United States, Remote

Insomniac Games is looking for a Flow Production Tracking Administrator. In this role, the Flow Administrator is responsible for stabilizing and maintaining our Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid) environment, with an initial focus on the Flow/Jira Bridge that underpins our daily production workflow. Flow is the system of record for production tracking across 300+ users and thousands of tasks per month. The initial scope of the engagement is 6 months, prioritizing bridge stability before expanding to broader Flow improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stands up a studio-owned instance of the Flow/Jira Bridge so that bridge configuration, deployment, and recovery can be managed internally without dependency on Sony Interactive Entertainment HQ.
  • Stabilizes and maintains the Flow/Jira Bridge as the first priority of the engagement, ensuring data integrity between Flow and Jira.
  • Re-architects the Flow automation and event listener layer for reliability and security, including migration off the current virtual machine to infrastructure that is not prone to unscheduled restarts.
  • Troubleshoots Flow and Jira Bridge issues for internal developers and external development partners; serves as the primary point of escalation when the system is not behaving.
  • Audits and documents the current Flow and Jira Bridge configuration, integration architecture, and recovery procedures.
  • Fixes broken or degraded areas of the Flow pipeline as scoped with pipeline engineering, beginning with the Character workflow.
  • Sets up and improves Flow pipelines for upcoming work, including VFX, and contributes ongoing improvements to the Cinematics pipeline.
  • Administers Flow Production Tracking day-to-day: schema, permissions, page layouts, custom fields, entity relationships, and project setup.
  • Configures and supports vendor (external partner) permissions and workflows, ensuring information access is appropriate to each partnership.
  • Designs and builds Flow dashboards, reports, and custom pages to meet production and leadership reporting needs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Five plus years of professional experience administering Flow Production Tracking, ShotGrid, or Shotgun in a games, VFX, or animation production environment, or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a multi-vendor co-development environment.
  • Shipped at least one AAA title with Flow/ShotGrid as the production system of record preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Hands-on experience with the sg-jira-bridge or a comparable Flow/Jira integration, including reading, modifying, and deploying the Python service independently.
  • Working knowledge of the Flow Python API and Toolkit (tk-core, pipeline configurations, YAML configuration).
  • Experience deploying and operating the Flow event listener and automation framework as a reliable service rather than as a fragile script on a virtual machine.
  • Proficiency with Jira administration, including workflows, custom fields, issue types, and the Jira REST API.
  • Comfort designing permissions and information access for mixed internal and external (vendor) user populations.
  • Familiarity with Perforce, Maya, and standard DCC pipelines.
  • Experience with self-hosted services, containerization, or CI/CD for pipeline tooling is a plus.
  • Experience with RV, Deadline, or other render/review tool integrations is a plus.
  • SQL and reporting or BI tool experience is a plus.

OTHER SKILLS

  • Strong written communication; able to produce documentation that others can use to operate and recover the system.
  • Ability to triage between time-sensitive production issues and longer-term platform work without losing momentum on either.
  • High degree of autonomy and accountability; proactively identifies and resolves production issues without requiring close oversight.
  • Collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset with a track record of building strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones with overseas external development partners.
