Work Environment

This role offers the flexibility of remote work while being part of a dynamic outpatient office environment when necessary. As a mental health counselor, you will have access to our advanced electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, which streamline documentation and communication with other healthcare professionals. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, creating a network of support aimed at fostering optimal client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preliminary interviews to gather pertinent information from clients, documenting cases from initial consultations to treatment completion.
• Evaluate and assess clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
• Develop individualized intervention and recovery plans tailored to the unique needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic modalities to enhance client insight and skills.
• Monitor and document client progress throughout their treatment journey, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
• Collaborate with a range of mental health specialists and medical professionals, ensuring comprehensive care and intervention strategies.
• Coordinate with psychiatrists and attending physicians for clients who require hospitalization, ensuring continuity of care.
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and implement strategies designed to mitigate these challenges.
• Provide guidance and support to family members and primary caregivers, equipping them with tools to navigate behavioral challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will primarily involve working with a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges. The Union Family Counseling Center specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction, emphasizing a client-centered approach that focuses on building strong therapeutic alliances. Qualifications

• Master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts.
• Demonstration of competency through passing scores on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with clients and healthcare professionals.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to all interactions with clients.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working as a mental health counselor in outpatient or clinical settings.
• Familiarity with electronic health records, particularly the AVATAR system, for accurate and efficient documentation.
• Experience addressing and treating co-occurring disorders and understanding medication protocols prescribed by healthcare providers.
• Knowledge of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and guidelines.
• Experience in facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
