A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Senior Project Engineer, you'll lead the engineering execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects from project award through construction and closeout. You'll serve as a key technical resource, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, innovative, and cost-effective engineering solutions while ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.

A typical day may involve coordinating with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), Construction, Integrated Supply Chain, Project Management, and internal engineering teams to review designs, manage technical deliverables, resolve field issues, support procurement activities, and guide engineering decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

You'll help transform engineering concepts into successful projects by ensuring designs are constructible, code-compliant, and ready for execution while mentoring junior engineers and continuously improving engineering standards across the organization.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Lead engineering activities from project award through design delivery, construction support, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain Basis of Design (BOD) documentation, engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), Construction, Project Management, Integrated Supply Chain, and internal engineering teams.
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, vendor submittals, and third-party engineering packages to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing equipment selections, technical submittals, and vendor documentation.
  • Manage engineering changes, technical risks, design revisions, and field support activities throughout construction.
  • Partner with construction teams to resolve field issues, support commissioning activities, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Mentor Engineer I, Engineer II, and CAD Designers through technical guidance, coaching, and engineering best practices.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining engineering quality, schedule commitments, and client expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards, workflows, and project execution through continuous improvement initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification required, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Four or more years of progressive engineering experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy, industrial, EPC, power generation, or heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering priorities while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to project sites based on project and business needs.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • Experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy projects through project engineering, construction support, and project closeout.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, constructability, procurement, commissioning, and project execution.
  • Experience collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), EPC partners, Integrated Supply Chain, and Construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining engineering quality, schedule, and client satisfaction.
  • Passion for mentoring engineers, solving complex technical challenges, and continuously improving engineering processes and project delivery.
