Job Description Summary:
The Department of Theatre & Performance at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a two-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor instructional position that will begin August 10, 2026.
We seek an individual with expertise in Stagecraft and Production Stage Management. Proficiency in properties management and sound/projections technology and design is preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher in Stagecraft and other technical areas, and will have a 3-3 teaching load.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Expertise in Stagecraft and Production Stage management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An MFA at the time of appointment (August 10, 2026).
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in properties management and sound or projection technology and design.
  • Ability to effectively teach those proficiencies in classes.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
  • This is a restricted position, subject to the term in which it is assigned and hired.
