What is the difference between Remote Theatre Set Designer vs Remote Scenic Artist?

AspectRemote Theatre Set DesignerRemote Scenic Artist
CredentialsDesign degree, theater or production experienceArt or design background, painting skills
Work EnvironmentCollaborates with directors, designers, and production teamsCreates painted or textured scenery, often working remotely
Industry UsageUsed in theater, film, and television productionsPrimarily in theater and set decoration

Remote Theatre Set Designers focus on conceptualizing and designing entire sets for productions, working closely with directors and production teams. Remote Scenic Artists specialize in painting and finishing scenery elements, often translating designs into physical textures and finishes. Both roles require artistic skills and collaboration but differ in scope and specific tasks within the production process.

What are remote theatre set designers?

Remote theatre set designers are professionals who conceptualize and create the visual scenery for theatrical productions while working from a location outside the physical theater space. They collaborate with directors and other production team members through digital tools, creating sketches, models, and technical drawings that guide the construction and decoration of stage sets. Their work often involves using design software, video calls, and file-sharing platforms to communicate ideas and deliver project materials. Remote set designers must be adept at visualizing space and translating creative concepts into practical set pieces that meet the show's aesthetic and logistical requirements.

How does a remote theatre set designer effectively collaborate with directors and production teams?

Remote theatre set designers typically use digital tools such as video conferencing, 3D modeling software, and collaborative platforms to communicate their ideas and receive feedback from directors and production teams. Regular virtual meetings, clear visual presentations, and prompt digital revisions are essential for maintaining alignment and ensuring the set design supports the artistic vision. Building strong communication skills and being proactive in sharing updates or addressing concerns helps remote designers stay connected and contribute meaningfully, despite not being physically present during rehearsals or construction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Theatre Set Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Theatre Set Designer, you need a strong background in scenic design, spatial visualization, and a degree in theatre design or a related field. Mastery of digital design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is typically required for creating and sharing detailed set plans virtually. Exceptional communication, creativity, and time management skills set designers apart when collaborating with production teams remotely. These abilities are crucial for delivering innovative, feasible set designs that enhance performances and meet production goals despite physical distance.

AI Video Designer (India - Remote)

AI Video Designer (India - Remote)

PriceLabs

Chicago, IL • Remote

Full-time

Posted 12 days ago

Job description

Note: We are only open to Individuals who reside in India for this position.

About the Role:

We're hiring an AI Video Designer to elevate how video storytelling shows up across our marketing. This isn't a role for a traditional editor who executes a timeline. We need an AI-first creative with the human taste and marketing intuition to know when a story needs a human touch to resonate. You'll partner with our marketing team to shape campaigns from the idea stage, then bring them to life as videos that are clear, purposeful, and high-performing.

You'll report to the Marketing Design Team Lead and partner daily with our performance marketing, brand, social and content teams to co-create campaigns. You'll also coach other designers, setting the creative bar for an AI-augmented production workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Know when to use AI, and when not to. Make deliberate judgment calls on where AI accelerates the work and where human craft is what makes it land. This is the core of the role.
  • Co-create campaigns with marketing. Brainstorm alongside marketers to shape campaign ideas from the whiteboard, then translate them into compelling video stories. You're not just receiving briefs-you're creating stories and executing them with video.
  • Design with marketing intent. Develop storylines, hooks, and structures that capture attention and drive results. Make things that work, not just things that look "cool".
  • Scale creativity with speed. Use AI-assisted tools for ideation, scripting, rapid prototyping, and technical enhancements (upscaling, rotoscoping, voice synthesis) without compromising narrative quality.
  • Define a distinct visual language. Set the motion styles, pacing, and visual treatment across all videos so our output feels consistent, premium, and unmistakably ours.
  • Coach and mentor. Guide other designers and set the benchmarks for great work in an AI-augmented creative workflow.
  • Build scalable systems. Create reusable motion kits and AI-driven workflows that bring structure and efficiency to production across campaigns.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 3 Months

  • You've shipped at least one flagship campaign-end to end, concept to export-that our team points to as the new benchmark for what our video can be.
  • You've measurably raised our output velocity (more videos per sprint, or faster turnaround times) without a drop in quality.
  • You've built a repeatable AI-augmented production workflow and brought the rest of the team along, so the standard you set sticks.

About You:
  • A background in video editing or motion design with clear AI fluency. This typically looks like 4+ years of hands-on experience, but we care more about the portfolio than the year count.
  • Fluency in the AI video landscape and the judgment to blend it with the human-touch
  • Marketing intuition. You understand audience attention and what makes a B2B video land. You know a hook when you see one and can explain why it works.
  • The human filter. You can spot when AI-generated content is uncanny or generic, and you have the taste and skill to fix it.
  • Narrative strength. Storytelling matters more to you than the specific software. You simplify complex ideas instead of over-designing them.
  • Speed and ownership. You're comfortable taking a project from concept to final export at high velocity without needing a producer to hold the reins.
  • Data and analytics: You know how and where to get data to know that what you are delivering is resonating with users and prospects.
What will make you stand out
  • You simplify instead of over-designing
  • You think in concepts before execution
  • You can clearly explain why something works (or doesn't)
  • You've helped raise the quality of a team, not just your own work
  • You have experience in B2B SaaS or a similarly fast-moving software category.

Tools we Use: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other standard editing tools
(But tools are secondary-we care about how you think.)
