Remote Technology Risk Management information

What is remote technology risk management?

Remote Technology Risk Management refers to the process of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the use of technology in remote work environments. This includes ensuring data security, managing access controls, and developing incident response plans for employees who work outside traditional office settings. Professionals in this field help organizations prevent data breaches, comply with regulations, and maintain business continuity as more employees work remotely. Effective risk management is crucial for protecting sensitive information and maintaining the integrity of IT systems in a distributed workforce.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote technology risk management role, and how can they be effectively addressed?

In a remote technology risk management role, one common challenge is maintaining effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, especially when assessing and mitigating risks across different time zones. To address this, professionals often rely on clear documentation, regular virtual meetings, and collaborative risk management tools. Additionally, staying updated on emerging threats and ensuring consistent security practices across remote environments can be demanding, but leveraging centralized frameworks and continuous training helps maintain a strong risk posture. Building strong relationships with IT, compliance, and business stakeholders also supports more proactive and coordinated risk management.

What is the difference between Remote Technology Risk Management vs Remote Cybersecurity Analyst?

Remote Technology Risk Management focuses on identifying and mitigating technology risks across an organization, ensuring compliance and strategic risk reduction. In contrast, Remote Cybersecurity Analysts primarily detect and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities. While both roles require cybersecurity certifications and work in similar environments, their core responsibilities differ: risk management emphasizes proactive policies, whereas cybersecurity analysts handle active threat response.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote technology risk management professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Technology Risk Management, you need a solid understanding of IT risk assessment, cybersecurity principles, and regulatory compliance, often supported by a degree in information systems or a related field. Familiarity with risk management frameworks (such as NIST or ISO 27001), GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) tools, and relevant certifications like CRISC or CISSP is typically expected. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective written communication are essential soft skills for evaluating risks and reporting findings remotely. These competencies are crucial for identifying vulnerabilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting organizational assets in a distributed work environment.

Job description

At Forbes Advisor, our mission is to help readers turn their aspirations into reality. We arm people with trusted advice and guidance so they can make informed decisions they feel confident in and get back to doing the things they care about most.
We are an experienced team of industry experts dedicated to helping readers make smart decisions and choose the right products with ease. Forbes Advisor boasts decades of experience across dozens of geographies and teams, including Content, SEO, Business Intelligence, Finance, HR, Marketing, Production, Technology and Sales. The team brings rich industry knowledge to Forbes Advisor's global coverage of consumer credit, debt, health, home improvement, banking, investing, credit cards, small business, education, insurance, loans, real estate and travel.
We want to raise the bar for CRM at Forbes Advisor, and we're looking for a best-in-class CRM Manager to own lifecycle marketing across one or two of our verticals. This is a hands-on role for a strong lifecycle marketer who develops the strategy for their vertical(s), builds high-performing campaigns, and grows and optimizes performance across email, SMS, and beyond.
You'll be a strong communicator and collaborator, working alongside Product, Data, Design Commercial, and the General Managers of your verticals. You'll bring your strategy to life through campaigns that hit specific revenue goals for your vertical(s) - building and launching a suite of new campaigns as well as optimizing existing ones.
The person we're looking for is a self-starter who generates, critically assesses, and prioritizes new ideas based on their value. You'll build test plans and roadmaps independently and aren't afraid to test and learn (even when that means test and fail). You take ownership of your vertical(s) and hold yourself accountable to results, trusting your judgement to make decisions and keep momentum. You're highly organized, and you consistently deliver to committed timescales while prioritizing the most impactful work.
This role reports to the Senior Director, CRM.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lifecycle strategies for your vertical(s), ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Proactively share new ideas and campaign recommendations across lifecycle channels, focusing on growing lifetime value, upselling to existing customers, or cross-selling new products and services
  • Validate ideas before investing in them, pressure-testing whether a campaign is viable before starting work, and prioritizing accordingly
  • Collaborate with the wider CRM team to bring the test-and-learn roadmap to life
  • Segmentation and strategy expert who knows the end-to-end customer experience for your vertical(s) across all channels
  • Champion responsible use of customer data - asking not just whether we can use the data, but whether we should - with a firm commitment to data security, privacy, and relevance

Creativity:
  • Drive best-in-class standards in copy, partnering with our internals teams to raise the quality and consistency of campaign messaging
  • Drive best-in-class standards in creative and design, partnering with our Design team to bring campaigns to life
  • Own lifecycle communication planning for your vertical(s), ensuring a joined-up, well-sequenced customer experience
  • Stay ahead of lifecycle marketing trends and competitor activity, and bring fresh thinking into our campaigns

Execution & Delivery:
  • Develop realistic project timelines with a bias for action, communicate them clearly to stakeholders, and consistently deliver to committed deadlines
  • Work with the wider CRM team and Product/Engineering on requirements for new data schema needs to bring campaigns to life
  • Build customer journeys, audience segments, and messaging templates within our customer engagement platform, Braze

Analysis:
  • Responsible for achieving vertical-specific revenue and performance goals, outlined with CRM leadership
  • Optimize existing campaigns to hit goal KPIs and exceed benchmark expectations
  • Independently pull your reporting from our customer engagement platform and Tableau
  • Share campaign-specific insights and trends regularly (tests performed, weekly/monthly changes in performance)

Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years of lifecycle/CRM experience, ideally gained in a D2C or comparison environment
  • Strong creative background with a track record of designing and delivering high-performing campaigns
  • Thrives collaborating across other departments and building relationships with key stakeholders
  • A self-starter and excellent communicator, with strong stakeholder management and a track record of delivering to committed timescales
  • Nice to have: experience with Braze, or equivalent platform
  • Nice to have: experience working across multiple verticals or product categories
