Who We Are TNTP Teaching Fellows programs prepare individuals without teaching certification to become exceptional teachers for our most deserving students. Our Fellows play a critical role in breaking down the socioeconomic and racial barriers that have historically denied underserved communities access to an equitable education. Through TNTP Teaching Fellows, you will elevate your academic or professional expertise into a high-impact career as an educator. No prior teaching experience is required. Where You Will Teach Choose where you teach. We partner with school districts and charter schools in five cities where demand is high for exceptional teachers.
  • Teach Minnesota (Minneapolis/Twin Cities)
  • Baltimore City Teaching Residency
  • Indianapolis Teaching Fellows
  • teachNOLA (Greater New Orleans)
Who Our Students Need Students have big dreams. Great teachers bring those dreams to life. Teaching Fellows understand that teaching is not just a job, but a career - one that demands their best each day. They recognize and value the assets of their students and the community and hold high expectations for all students. We recruit, train, certify, and support accomplished professionals, recent college graduates and graduating seniors who aren't yet certified as teachers, but possess the dedication and content knowledge to teach in our partner districts and schools. Our teachers develop the skills to help students build their knowledge by making meaningful connections between challenging, meaningful content and students' unique values and experiences. You may have built a successful career and now desire to pursue a more fulfilling path as a teacher. You may be a recent graduate who wants to share your passion for learning with the students. Whatever your background may be, you believe that every student can achieve at the highest level, and you are committed to helping them get there. We are seeking mission-aligned candidates to teach high-need subject areas that include, math, science, elementary education, early childhood education, English and special education. *Teach Minnesota welcomes certified teachers; eligibility requirements apply Benefits of TNTP Teaching Fellows: Classroom-Centered Preparation: Our teacher preparation is radically simple: focused practice on key skills, knowledge, and mindsets to get new teachers off to a strong start. Where traditional teacher preparation leaves little time for hands-on skill-building, our innovative support is centered around actual teaching experience and focused practice on core skills, such as reflecting on students' values, experiences, and ambitions to create opportunities for students to see themselves in challenging content that will prepare them for success. Flexible Teaching Locations: With programs throughout the U.S., Teaching Fellows can choose to teach and live in a city that fits their interests. Though our programs share a common mission, they are as unique as the communities they serve. Certification that Counts: We hold the highest standards for certification of any program in the country. Teaching Fellows are recognized not simply as certified teachers, but as having a proven track record of classroom success. Full Salary and Benefits: Teaching Fellows begin earning a full teacher's salary, plus comprehensive benefits. While pursuing certification, Fellows start working full-time in their own classroom at a district or charter school at the beginning of the 2026-27 school year. Eligibility Requirements Qualifications and eligibility for TNTP's Teaching Fellows programs:
  • Must have bachelor's degree by June 2026
  • Must currently be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must not be a licensed teacher (exception for Teach Minnesota)
  • Must have a minimum 2.2 cumulative undergraduate GPA*
