Job Summary:
The Commercial Lines, VP/SVP has responsibilities in growing organic revenue for the Atlantic Region. This position will lead broking for both new and renewal business and will support the servicing of current clients and prospecting new business and developing strategies to do so.
This is a full-time role with the flexibility of a hybrid schedule in our Bethesda, MD or Charlotte, NC office. We will consider a remote option for well-experienced candidates. East Coast work location is desired for the ability to travel within the region as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
  • Lead strategy development and marketing for a book of NFP clients in the Atlantic region. Partner with the account service team and client to gain strategy alignment and establishes a plan and timeline to execute against the strategy.
  • Execute national and regional broking strategies to ensure optimal client outcomes. Work with producers to identify market opportunities and support new business.
  • Develop and execute strategy for at-risk accounts, ensuring retention and profitability.

Operational Process
  • Drive placement strategy and execution - client needs assessment, program design, carrier negotiation and marketing execution to deliver customized solutions for NFP clients; ensure a go-to-market strategy is in place for each broking engagement.
  • Collaborate with account management teams and client to ensure complete and timely submissions, respond to carrier queries, compile and analyze carrier quote proposals, and present clients with a clear summary of the marketing process and a proposal with recommendations. Support team with prompt replies on inquires.
  • Determine proper coverage given the client risk profile, business objectives (current and future) and risk appetite to ensure and mitigate risk.
  • Develop creative solutions to effectively address difficult placement scenarios; own the process and drive outcomes to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively coordinate and manage broking around the placement cycle in accordance with NFP's service model standards and timelines.
  • Drive and ensure the effective deployment of data and analytics to provide meaningful program insight for clients and the broking team.
  • Lead the preparation of proposal documents for marketed accounts.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of detailed and complex coverage and policy comparisons, diagnostics, consolidated coverage/policy analyses, letters, and reports
  • Manage the review of binders and policies to ensure terms and conditions are accurately reflected.
  • Partner with Producers and account teams during the sales process, including prospect qualification, program review, marketing, RFP response, BOR issuance.
  • Support the development of sales documents, presentations, stewardship reports, and RFP responses for prospective clients.
  • Support the broking team and region in achieving KPI's including growth and retention objectives. Drive and support prospect sales efforts, expand existing client relationships through cross-sell and up-sell initiatives, ensure distinctive client value is delivered through all placement and facets of service engagement.

Talent Development
  • Ensure consistency in broking standards and client delivery across the region.
  • Educate AE/AM on market dynamics and market trends and the client and the affects on placement strategy. Mentor and train junior talent.

Carrier Relationships
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key carrier partners to enhance placements and market access. Operate as a steward of NFP in the marketplace.
  • Know and stay abreast of carrier appetites. Ensure the right markets are approached for the right risks.
  • Stay current on market trends, market dynamics and terms and conditions and educates the client to help them make better informed risk transfer decisions.

Key Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • P&C Insurance License required
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial P&C broking, with a strong understanding of mid-market dynamics
  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and driving strategic initiatives. Ability to mentor and develop talent across experience levels
  • Deep carrier relationships and market knowledge across the Atlantic region. Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with Epic (agency management system) a plus
  • Proven technical competency and creativity demonstrating excellence in developing and delivering innovative property and casualty solutions
  • Travel as required for client, prospect and industry events

The base salary range for this position is $132,000 - $190,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
