What is remote spiritual care?

Remote spiritual care is the practice of providing emotional and spiritual support to individuals through virtual means, such as phone calls, video conferencing, or online messaging. Professionals in this field help people cope with life challenges, grief, or existential questions, regardless of their physical location. This approach makes spiritual support more accessible, especially for those who cannot attend in-person sessions due to distance, illness, or other barriers. Remote spiritual care can be offered by chaplains, spiritual counselors, or faith leaders from various religious or spiritual backgrounds.

How does a remote spiritual care provider effectively build rapport and support clients without in-person interactions?

Remote Spiritual Care providers typically use video calls, phone conversations, and secure messaging platforms to connect with clients. Building rapport in a virtual setting requires strong active listening skills, empathy, and the ability to create a safe, confidential space for clients to share their concerns. Providers often use regular check-ins, clear communication, and personalized spiritual resources to foster trust and provide meaningful support. While virtual work can be challenging due to the lack of physical presence, many find that intentional communication and flexibility help maintain deep, supportive relationships with clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote spiritual care provider, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Spiritual Care Provider, you generally need a background in theology or pastoral care, experience in counseling, and relevant certifications such as Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure communication tools, and electronic documentation systems is important for effective virtual support. Outstanding listening skills, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to foster trust remotely are essential soft skills in this role. These capabilities are crucial for providing meaningful, confidential spiritual support and guidance to individuals in diverse and often vulnerable situations from a distance.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at Spiritual Journey Counseling Services in a full-time remote capacity. This role is ideal for licensed professionals who wish to focus on delivering quality mental health care to a diverse clientele while having the flexibility to work from home. Our platform is designed to eliminate administrative burdens, allowing you to concentrate on what matters most: the mental well-being of your clients.

About the Organization

Spiritual Journey Counseling Services is committed to providing accessible and effective mental health support through telehealth. Our organization bridges the gap between licensed mental health professionals and individuals seeking help, ensuring that clients receive care tailored to their unique needs. By utilizing a technology-driven approach, we aim to enhance the therapeutic experience for both clients and counselors, making mental health services more approachable and convenient.

Work Environment

This role offers a fully remote work setting, providing you with the flexibility to manage your schedule while engaging with clients. You will not only benefit from a supportive virtual environment but also be part of a team that values professional development and collaboration. Your typical working hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, designed to serve our clients during convenient hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive virtual assessments to evaluate the mental, emotional, and social needs of clients.
  • Develop customized care plans that leverage evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions tailored to each clientโ€™s circumstances.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms to provide therapy sessions, ensuring ease of access and maintaining engagement through digital means.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to set achievable therapeutic goals and develop actionable steps to reach those milestones.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, treatment outcomes, and progress in accordance with professional standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to remain current with the latest best practices in mental health care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on low-acuity clients who require supportive counseling to navigate various life stresses and challenges. These clients may have issues ranging from anxiety and depression to adjustment disorders and relationship challenges. By creating a safe and affirming environment, you will help clients cultivate their inner strengths and enhance their coping skills.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology is required.
  • Must possess a current and active LMFT, LPC, or LCSW license in Tennessee.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience in mental health counseling, demonstrating an ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in teletherapy or online counseling is highly desirable, showcasing your ability to adapt therapeutic techniques to a digital format.
  • Proficient with telehealth technologies and documentation platforms is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to manage multiple clients effectively and maintain clear documentation.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary between $90,000 and $110,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health and well-being. Our benefits include robust health, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, paid leave, and life insurance coverage, ensuring that you receive the support necessary for both your professional and personal life.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Spiritual Journey Counseling Services, we are committed to the professional development of our team members. As a mental health counselor, you will have the opportunity to engage in continuous learning and pursue advanced certifications. We also encourage leadership development and provide pathways for those who want to take on supervisory roles or specialize in particular therapeutic modalities.

Why Join Our Team
