Communications & Operations Manager - Intercessory Prayer (Spiritual Foundations)

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will provide project management and operational support to the assigned supervisor, including management of annual plans; and assist in completing regular communications initiatives on behalf of supervisor.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:
  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
  • Maintaining spiritual disciplines for personal and ministry growth
  • Modeling wisdom and maturity in the balance of family, church, and ministry life

Process and Project Leadership
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the ministry/department and organization through:
    • Analyzing current ministry/department operating methods and proactively proposing cost-saving and efficiency improvements
    • Monitoring, coordinating, and managing events, projects, task forces, and committees, related to the department's goals, objectives, and mission, to include development and follow-up work as needed
    • Working with other teams and leaders to accomplish InterVarsity objectives
    • Setting agenda for team meetings, ensuring objectives for meetings are met efficiently and effectively and that follow ups are managed and monitored
    • Providing excellent project delivery that is on-time, on-scope, on-budget, and with complete documentation/access to necessary resources
  • Act as "air traffic control" for business processes emanating from ministry/department to ensure cross-departmental coordination, appropriate change management, and process improvement both within department and in collaboration with other departments
  • Ensures successful completion for specific projects sponsored or led by supervisor, as requested
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor

Organizational Communication
  • Communicate with a wide variety of internal and external audiences, ministries, departments, and organizations on behalf of supervisor and other members of the ministry/department Leadership Team
  • Participate in team meetings, creative brainstorming and evaluation sessions
  • Be proactive in enhancing communication with leaders and other staff, and external constituents as appropriate on behalf of supervisor
  • Proactively improve communication between ministry/department and other InterVarsity departments by engaging in social media on behalf of supervisor and other team members; by coaching team members on field communications strategies and by drafting/reviewing communication from department to other departments and to the field
  • Draft and keep records of various forms of correspondence and communications on behalf of supervisor
  • Draft and expedite team-wide communication on behalf of supervisor in preparing communication relevant for team events
  • Develop team prayer letter templates to support group fundraising activities; assist supervisor in proactive and regular communication with key personal and departmental donors
  • In partnership with Customer Service, create and update relevant content and resources for ministry/department websites to better market the department's capabilities and services
  • Research, update, and edit historical documents for print and web communications
  • Assist supervisor with the production and distribution of regular electronic communications for internal and external distribution

Develop and maintain a funding base and prayer support
  • Raise a portion of salary in an amount or percentage agreed upon with Supervisor
  • Communicate regularly with current and potential donors, churches, prayer support team members, friends and family regarding ministry with InterVarsity

  • Prior experience with InterVarsity or other campus ministry is highly desirable
  • A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Traveling as needed for planning meetings or ministry events
  • One year of experience with communications responsibilities (internal or external) required; two or more years strongly desired
  • Minimum of two years of experience with significant administrative/operational responsibilities

Pay Range: $18.89 - $25.19 per hour
Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received, including any geographic adjustment to account for location and cost of living, is subject to the individual's ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of such salary within the range set forth in the job posting details.
